  • Why We Get Fat: And What to Do About It

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 2 mins)
    • By Gary Taubes
    • Narrated By Mike Chamberlain

Building upon this critical work in Good Calories, Bad Calories and presenting fresh evidence for his claim, Taubes now revisits the urgent question of what’s making us fat—and how we can change—in this exciting new book. Persuasive, straightforward, and practical, Why We Get Fat makes Taubes’s crucial argument newly accessible to a wider audience.

Marsha says: "Eye opening, life changing book!"
    "The accompanying material is available"

Lots of people have asked for the accompanying material. It seems to be very essential while going through this book. I myself am only at chapter 6 and decided to send an email to Audible customer support about the material. I can't say for certain that the material was available before I requested but all I can say is that it is now available towards the bottom of the book description area for the book on the website. The download link is Normally I can get by without any additional material but If you haven't read this book yet I encourage you to get the material as well and if possible refer to it before you start the book. I think it makes a big difference in this case.

So far the anti "calories in calories out" argument is being beaten to death in this book, i say this because I never really subscribed to this approach anyway, but it is good to know that it can be beaten to death with real evidence as opposed to anecdotal evidence from my own personal experiences.

Very engaging book, so far. (I take one star off for the beating to death of the topic).

  • Love, Lust & Faking It: The Naked Truth About Sex, Lies, and True Romance

    • UNABRIDGED (5 hrs and 32 mins)
    • By Jenny McCarthy
    • Narrated By Julia Whelan
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Best-selling author Jenny McCarthy returns to her comic roots in this candid, wise, and witty look at women, men, sex, romance, heartbreak, love, and how (not) to fake it. In Love, Lust & Faking It, the inveterate truth teller turns the lights on for a funny, often poignant, and no-holds-barred look at the essence of relationships: love and sex.

    Ericka says: "Love it!"
    "It's ok"
Would you try another book from Jenny McCarthy and/or Julia Whelan?

What about Julia Whelan???s performance did you like?

She made an interesting story more enjoyable which made it much easier to get through the book. She is a good reader.

Was Love, Lust & Faking It worth the listening time?

  • A Feast for Crows: A Song of Ice and Fire: Book 4

    • UNABRIDGED (33 hrs and 56 mins)
    • By George R. R. Martin
    • Narrated By Roy Dotrice
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Few books have captivated the imagination and won the devotion and praise of readers and critics everywhere as has George R. R. Martin’s monumental epic cycle of high fantasy that began with A Game of Thrones. Now, in A Feast for Crows, Martin delivers the long-awaited fourth book of his landmark series, as a kingdom torn asunder finds itself at last on the brink of peace . . . only to be launched on an even more terrifying course of destruction.

Pi says: "Jarring change in Dotrice's performance"
    "I don't care what they say ..."
    Any additional comments?

I don't care what the others say. I am glad Roy is back, even with the voice and some pronunciation changes it is still good to see that the publishers are listening and that Roy is still able to give his voice to the series.

What allot of people don't realize is that allot of time has passed between the 1st 3 books and the latter 2 books and also Roy is not a young whipper snapper anymore (he was borned 1923 ... so do the math); its just the way life is, I wouldn't expect Mr. Dotrice to be sitting around for all those years twiddling his thumbs and

  • Contagious

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 54 mins)
    • By Scott Sigler
    • Narrated By Scott Sigler
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Across America, a mysterious pathogen transforms ordinary people into raging killers, psychopaths driven by a terrifying, alien agenda. The human race fights back, yet after every battle the disease responds, adapts, using sophisticated strategies and brilliant ruses to fool its pursuers. The only possible explanation: the epidemic is driven not by evolution but by some malevolent intelligence.

    T. Migliaccio says: "A Great Set of Books"
    "It is Contagious"

Listened to this book in one shot. As usual Sigler weaves a thick web and keeps you holding on to every word.

Lots of effort made to keep the character voices interesting. His style of narration is a bit different than the typical audio book ... but I like it. We notice Perry has a lighter voice in this one ... hmmm I wonder why? (wink wink).

Seems like there could just be a 3rd part to the story ... I am sooo waiting for it.

  • Sweeney Todd and the String of Pearls: An Audio Melodrama in Three Despicable Acts (Dramatized)

    • ORIGINAL (2 hrs and 19 mins)
    • By Yuri Rasovsky
    • Narrated By uncredited

Here is the 18th-century classic about the "demon barber" of Fleet Street, London, who cuts the throats of his customers and disposes of the bodies in a most unusual way. He carries them through underground tunnels to the bakery of one Mrs. Lovett a few blocks away, where they supply the stuffing for her meat pies, the favorite mid-day repast of the lawyers who work nearby and get their shaves from Sweeney Todd.

I was happily surprised and thoroughly entertained with this title.

    Good stuff.
