Although I did enjoy this story, I was led to believe it was 12 hours long. For some reason the story is sent in 2 versions making it 12 hrs total for both versions. Had I realized this I would not have bought it. I doubt this was intentional but I feel cheated.
There is a good story here if you can get past the excruciatingly long winded and boring parts. The author could have made her point and moved on, but instead climbs on her soap box and goes on, and on, AND ON......., I don't know if there is an abridged version or not, but this book could easily be edited down by half and be better for it.
Some other reviewers cannot seem to get past their own politics.
I found this book well written and credible. I can only hope nothing like this ever happens. But I can see that our modern, technical society is fragile. Could you imagine what would happen to our country if we suddenly lost our power for an extended time? God help us!
The story is riveting and engaging. A must read! Open your eyes and see!
I have read or listened to most all of Stephen Kings work. This is the only audio book that I have listened to multiple times. (Five times now.) William Hurt's reading performance is what brings me back again and again. Without a doubt, the best narration I have heard! He brings the story to life! Thank You Mr. King..........Bravo William Hurt!
