In the near future, at a moment no one will notice, all the dazzling technology that runs our world will unite and turn against us. Taking on the persona of a shy human boy, a childlike but massively powerful artificial intelligence known as Archos comes online and assumes control over the global network of machines that regulate everything from transportation to utilities, defense and communication. In the months leading up to this, sporadic glitches are noticed by a handful of unconnected humans - a single mother, a lonely Japanese bachelor, and an isolated U.S. soldier....

Outstading book. Grabs you from page one and the narator is excellent. I highly recommend it for fans of The Stand and other post apocalyptic books.

Imogene is young and beautiful. She kisses like a movie star and knows everything about every film ever made. She's also dead and waiting in the Rosebud Theater for Alec Sheldon on an afternoon in 1945...Arthur Roth is a lonely kid with big ideas and a gift for attracting abuse. It isn't easy to make friends when you're the only inflatable boy in town.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I love all of Joe Hill's other books this one was way to dark.

Has 20th Century Ghosts turned you off from other books in this genre?

No and I like Stephen King ( Joe's Dad) Dean Kootz and others

How could the performance have been better?

Just more drawn out characters as he does in his other books but I'm sure it's tough with short stories.

What character would you cut from 20th Century Ghosts?

Not sure as it is a series of short stories

    Any additional comments?

Joe Hill is a great writer. This will not deter me from buying his next book

Only a handful of people in the world know that mankind's magic comes from a living creature, and it is a refugee from another universe. The Power showed up here in the 1850s because it was running from something. Now it is 1933, and the Power's hiding place has been discovered by a killer. It is a predator that eats magic and leaves destroyed worlds in its wake. Earth is next. Former private eye Jake Sullivan knows the score. The problem is, hardly anyone believes him.
