"Marvelous!"
Having seen the movie version many times and having read the actual book, it is now a privilege to listen to Johanna Ward's marvelous reading of "The Song of Bernadette" by Franz Werfel. She really makes the story come alive. The book itself is a wondrous telling of the story of Bernadette and "the Lady," and to hear it so masterfully read is one more way to experience its power, its beauty, its ability to touch the heart. Well done!
"Greatest Novel, Excellent Reader"
This is my favorite novel of all time, and the reader of this unabridged version does it justice! Having read Moby Dick many times, it's nice to enjoy the audio version that gives it a new dimension, to be sure.
"Magnificent American poetry"
This anthology of beautiful, often gritty poems is every bit as powerful, amusing, and American as Whitman's Leaves of Grass. The Asner et. al. performance is magnificent! I wish they would record Whitman's great legacy to American letters like this! The performers lend meaning to the material in the best way. This is the way to read poetry! This is the way to listen to it!
