I gave the book 2 stars because, as much as I love Tine Fey, her narration was disappointing. Her reading sounded rushed, humorless, and overall negative- in a self-deprecating sort of way. I think I would have enjoyed the book much better had I read it instead of listening to it.
I bought this book hoping for an enjoyable listening experience. The story is good, but the choice the narrator is horrible. I've enjoyed many books read by Brick, but this is not definitely one of them.
Scott Brick excels at narrating, but not in this case. Perhaps I am spoiled by Lorelei King's performance of Evanovich's books, but Brick falls short in bringing to life Kate's personality. Listening to him I only get angry, strained vibes. Kate is half of the book and Brick is not the best with female characters. I'd much rather read the print version and get to know the real chocolate-addicted Kate!
