The title caught my attention.....and makes sense after you get into the story...this book was ok....but not on my favorite list
One of the best books I have ever listened to that totally breaks your heart but keeps you so interesting in the lives of these heroic boys that fought for our freedom.....so much better to read/listen to the story than to watch at the movies...I liked the movie but they added things that weren't in the book....so know the facts before you see it on the big screen.....could listen to it over and over
It's weird how award winning books don't catch my attention...I finished it but just not what I thought ...wouldn't recommend it
For some reason I couldn't get into this at 1st, but as I kept listening I was captured with the story and the characters......good ending!
one of my 1st audible books was On the Corner of Bitter & Sweet.....guess I wasn't very good with my history but had no idea what happened to the American Japanese here in the United States after the bombing of Pearl Harbor....that made me so interested, and now this book took you right there again and it was sooooo good and so sad at the same time. It's a must read. I finished it today and can't get it off my mind...you for sure won't want to put this one down...in fact, this would make a fantastic movie
Was leary when it first got started....I love love love Hungar Games and was so afraid it'd be too similar....well.......this would make the best movie ...it is that good.....just makes you think if our government could have that much control over us and we not know.....the kids story lines are amazing.....just finished this one last night and can't wait to start part 2.....don't be afraid to listen to this one.....I had to laugh when it said it's a children book...I'm almost 58....kid at heart mayb. ;)
I really liked this book....set back in time it brought you into the story from the very beginning and kept my attention all the way through.....and when you thought you knew how it was going to end.....you'll have to buy this one to find out what I'm talking about. :). Worth every minute
I heard Chris had been killed while I was still listening to this book......I hurried and finished it the Monday after.....the books made the war come alive for me...I knew things we bad for our boys fighting for us to be free, but it helps give you a glimpse of why they have such a hard time when they get out. Chris was an amazing guy because he loved his job and was so good at it. I feel so sorry for his wife and children....they gave him up to fight and now they gave him up again when there was so many good things he wanted to do. You get his wives view about being a military wife, you'll learn a lot about different types of guns....that kind of went over my head....the language gets a little rough in spots, but I am so glad I chose this book to read....it gives you such a deep appreciation for the people who serve our great nation and what all they endure, as well as their families. I feel like I knew Chris personally....such a sad ending to a faithful soldier!
Always taken in by the Kennedy's...I was 6th grade when Kennedy was shot but so much of this book I think I remember bits and pieces of my parents watching tv....remember Jackie telefized tour thru the white house....and bout her loosing her baby. So amazing what kind of life these people lived.....I hope it's all true what O'Reilly wrote cause I so liked the book so so much. Keeps your attention throughout the whole book and hated it when it was over
I live about 40 minutes from Springs Valley so this book was like dejavu.....made me want to go walk in the woods, ride the train and just walk the halls of the hotel.....loved loved loved the style of this writer....kept you so interested throughout the entire book.....and with the audio....and the sound effects....gave me chills sometimes down your back. I'd like to read another one of this author I think...he was so interesting
I would love to be able to meet these men in this book to give them a hug of thanksgiving for serving our country so that I may be free. To Louis Zamperini, who his life experiences can make you laugh in one minute and then break your heart in the next...to a man who figured out what our life here on earth is all about...to serve the one and only Jesus Christ with your whole heart and soul and give thanks in the worst of times and forgive those who hurt you......this man through all his many triumphs and trials....truely has to be a saint. I know alot of the other books I have read too from my list has been amazing, but this is truely one to be inspired from....don't miss out....READ IT! NOW!
