This was not the best of the series so far but it was still good. Some hot and steamy icy sex scenes for sure. I liked the concept a lot but I don't think it was up to par with the rest of the series. Maybe because this book was written with help. Kresley Cole needs no help. it also seemed to repeat the previous book stories a bit too much since this story was happening at the same time the other brothers story was going on. I sometimes felt as if I was listening to "previously on Immortals after dark".
The narrator Robert Petkoff was fantastic as usual. He made the book better than if I had just read it. 10 stars for narration!
This was an entertaining story. Not much to it. No drama, surprises, OMG moments. But still enjoyable. There was good chemistry between Walt and Dakota, a mildly written sex scene, and lots of dialogue throughout the book, (I like lots of dialogue).
Very likable characters. I was a bit disappointed we didn't get to find out a couple of things at the end. I wont say what they are as I don't want to give spoilers. But I really would have liked to know them..... sigh..
As for the narrator, she is decent. She reads well, and with emotion, however I would like it if her male characters sounded a bit deeper. But she is still pretty good.
Really?!? Not sure how anyone thought this narration was brilliant. The reading voice was nice. But that is it. There are 9 witches in the coven, the main character Shauni can speak to animals and they can speak back, there is our hero, Dr. Black.
NOT ONE CHARACTER HAS A DIFFERENT VOICE FROM THE NARRATOR'S READING VOICE.
I am not kidding. A very disappointing listen. I was a bit shocked too, most narrators try and give characters voice distinctions, not this one. not one little bit.
As for the story, it was just okay, seemed a bit juvenile to me, if you took out the 2 sex scenes this could be YA book. There was not enough dialogue for me. The story line and plot had potential but just fell flat and boring.
I had to stop listening at 8% and just read this book due to the very poor narration. Sorry, Hollie Jackson, but you should either give your characters a voice or don't narrate.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS LISTEN. I don't really even recommend the story to be honest. There are so many books out there that are so much better. Save your credit for something worth listening to.
Wow what a story! Loved it from beginning to end! I am not a fan of books written in the first person, but I promise this book is the exception as it was exceptional! Wonderful writing, Fantastic narration that made this story even better!
The story line and plot were great. The inner dialogue was fantastic coming from the mans POV, so it wasn't a bunch of blah blah blah inner dialogue you get from a female's POV most of the time, Nor was there a bunch of filler moments either. There was however, for us women listening some educational moments,If you read\listened to this book you know what I am talking about. LOL
Drew's character was arrogant, charming, sexy, smart, witty, suave, honest and ohhh that voice.. Whew..
I read the descriptions of the rest of the books in this series and just feel like I enjoyed this book and narration so so much that I am not even going to move on with the series. I am going to let this book stand alone in my world.
There is plenty of sex in this book so it is not rated G! I would not put it in the erotica category either. It just really good honest written sex.
As for the narration... Well, Yes Yes Yes! It was fantastic! Couldn't have had a better narrator for this book.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK! ONE OF THE FUNNEST (and sexiest) LISTEN'S IN A LONG TIME!
This was a great story. (much better than the last one) I really liked Judy and Rick together. They made a great couple, had some good chemistry and very nicely written sex scenes. The story line and plot were good.
There was lots and lots of dialogue throughout the entire book, which was great. (I like lots of dialogue).
I enjoyed all the returning characters from the previous books, that's always nice.
As for the narration. It was great. Tanya Eby gets better and better! Everyone has their own distinct voice and the men sound like men.
I got this as a free read with my KU subscription and 1.99 on audible, Great Deal!
This was not the best in the series in my opinion. It did have some issues for sure. Didn't really care for the "fake wife" falling for the brother, or the brother falling for his brother's wife, when he didn't even know it was a fake marriage. It seem to me that Zack and Karen only had some attraction towards each other and it felt fake and rushed to me. I didn't like how Karen got sooooo mad at Mike when he kissed her at the bar-b-q party. That was sort of stupid, I mean really, she did sign up to be his fake wife. Too many eye rolling moments.... that would be me rolling my eyes, like whatever, geez and seriously??
I didn't hate it but it was not great by no means. There was lots of dialogue throughout the book which was great, and there was a nicely written sex scene, so there is that. Regardless of the not so good story line the writing did flow very nicely.
As for the narration, It seems Tanya Eby has gotten better with each book! She gives everyone their own distinct voice, the men sound like men and her reading voice is very nice.
I do plan on reading\listening to the next book in the series because the rest were really good, so I am not giving up on this series.
I got this as a free listen and read with my KU subscription. Glad I didn't pay for this one, so yes a good deal.
What a good story. Love this series. This book is my favorite so far I think. I just love that Gwen. She is funny, smart and beautiful. And Neil, a sexy ex Special OP bodyguard who is pretty hot bad a$$, can't not like that in a hero!
They had some great chemistry together. A couple really nice sex scenes, not erotica, just very nicely written.
Great story line and plot, lots of great dialogue throughout the entire book. The story flowed very well, easy to follow. I like that characters from the previous books show up too.
As for the narration, I really loved the voice she gave Gwen. She did a great job. She seems to get better and better as the books go along. The men sound like men, everyone has their own distinct voice. She reads with emotion and not a robot. A very nice reading voice too.
Got this as a Free Read Free Listen with my KU subscription! Fantastic deal for sure!
Wow I loved this story. Great characters Emmaline and Nicholas are. She is a very strong butt kicking pirate. Loved her. Always wearing breeches and in her bare feet. LOL He is handsome, suave, and just awesome. They had some great chemistry together, a few very nicely written sex scenes.
Lots of of great dialogue throughout the entire book. I like lots of dialogue in the books I read. The story line, plot and writing flowed very nicely together. Wonderful story!
A very enjoyable READ for sure, because the narrator made them sound old. I got to 8 percent in whispersync and had to stop listening because the story was good but the narrator was not. So at 8 percent I quit listening and just read this book. I am not a Veida Dehmlow fan at all. Sorry VD but you need to not make your characters sound old it was ruining this story.
Wow, I don't know where to begin...... sigh. This was not a good story at all. I will try to give a couple of examples without spoiling it, but I can't promise because this story was ridiculous.
Our Heroine, Cydney- So your in Paris because your daughter has been kidnapped from USA and taken to Paris. What do you do? Go sightseeing? Yes, you go the Louve... she does. It happened. Her daughter, Olivia is kidnapped AGAIN from Paris (police department no less) and taken to Rome. So why not go to the Colosseum and do some more sightseeing while in Rome. Yes, she does, It happened. Daughter is still kidnapped.
Okay on to your Hero, Ethan- What man brings room service sandwiches to the bathroom of the hotel in Paris and proposes marriage? Yep our hero does, on the same day our heroine's daughter is kidnapped for the second time from the Paris police station just hours after she is shot at and grazed with bullet and his own son is whacked in the head by the bad guy in order to kidnap Olivia again. Yes. It happened. Just sayin...
(both our hero and heroine have kids from previous marriages, to clear any confusion)
Can you really clone DNA from a piece of a tooth (supposedly Jesus's tooth) and implant that cloned DNA it into 15 year old virgin girl's egg to get her pregnant? This is our plot..Just sayin...
Okay this a a good one. We get a Tammy Faye Baker character (her real name is Coral, but her character is totally a Tammy Faye Baker) in our story. Who happens to be the person who initiates the kidnapping and takes Olivia out of the USA to Paris. What happens when the FBI catches her? Well if she will tell them where Olivia is they will unfreeze all her assets and let her go.. But Tammy Faye Baker character wants something else........ (drum roll) she wants Ethan our hero in the package. LOL so what does he do to get her to confess where Olivia is?? (double drum roll) he has everyone leave the interrogation room turn the cameras off and strips for her, right there in the interrogation room Yep, It happened.. She confesses all! They find Olivia. HEA
Oh there is an epilogue.. But not a snowballs chance in Hell I would even consider reading\listening to the next book. Sorry.
Yep that is this story. I am not kidding at all. Fact!
As for the narration, Curt Simmons did a great job. A performance rather than a narration. Everyone had their own distinct voice. The women sounded like women. He would, yell, chuckle, laugh, whisper, etc.. as the story called for it. Very good reading voice too. I would listen to him again for sure. Just not anymore in this series.
This is my 5th Kathryn Le Veque book and after reading The Dark One: Dark Knight, it is hard to believe the same person wrote this story. So far nothing has compared to The Dark One, but this one was just ludicrous. Seriously. save your money credit and time.
I love All the Night Huntress series with Cat and Bones. I love the Night Huntress World books too. This series is just okay for me. I think this story would be so much better if it was NOT written in the first person. You lose so much about a character the development and personality when a book is written in the first person.
Leila kind of got on my nerves at times. They have some decent chemistry but sometimes it felt forced. There was a couple of good sex scenes. But the story itself was just okay. Like I said this story not written in the first person would have been so much better.
Regardless it was entertaining for sure. Like an action movie. Oh and Cat and Bones along with Mancheres that was a treat. Love Mancheres. Would like more books about him and Kira that would be a treat. Plus The Night Huntress World books were NOT written in the first person which made them even better.
The narration was outstanding! Tavia Gilbert is phenomenal. She gives you more of a performance than a narration. 10 stars to Tavia Gilbert for sure!
Jeanine Frost is truly a wonderful author. Wish she would write her stories NOT in the first person.
Wow what a terrible story. I don't even know where to begin.... Lets see, Lilith can't make up her mind about which guy she will choose through the entire book. Seriously you don't find out until the last 3 words! Let it also be known there is zero chemistry between Lilith or either of her two suitors. NONE! ZERO! NADA! Not to mention there is no epilogue, no conclusion of the guy she didn't choose. Most of the time she was trampy to be honest. Kissing them both in front of each other, or holding hands in front of each other, like she was some sort of prize, which she was not. She was extremely annoying! Luckily there was zero sex or she may have had sex with one of her suitors in front of the other. Geez this was a terrible story.
This is written in the first person so you get to hear all the rambling blah blah blah nonsense going through her mind. It is painful! My ears are still bleeding and I can't believe I even finished this book. I am kind of embarrassed about that.
The narrator gets 2 stars only because she did put some emotion in to her reading, otherwise that sucked too, she didn't even try to do the men's voices. most of the time you didn't know who was talking until she read "so and so said"
The best part of the book was the 5 minute sample on audible! Fact.
