couldnt finish it couldnt get into it. I didnt really care for any of the characters. IMO
hmm not sure where to start. The story line\concept had promise, but got lost in juvenile translation. I am certainly glad it was only about 5 hours long.
I did like Mercy, she was pretty funny with her quirkiness. There was lots of dialogue throughout the whole book and that was good.
There is sex but not very well written sex by no means.
I have to agree with WendyGael's audible review. She was pretty dead on in her review.
The narration was great. I think Mason Lloyd did a good job on the female voice. He did a good job on Striker's Scottish accent too.
I have no desire to move forward with this series. So it ends here for me with the first book. Luckily I got this as a free read with my KU subscription and only paid 1.99 for the audible. It is not really worth more than 1.99.
This was a cute story. Entertaining. The heroine, Amelia had spunk, not a crybaby simpering heroine. Which is always good. I was looking forward to Thomas's story since the first book. I really liked him. Although I was a little annoyed at how he was sooo in love with the heroine from previous book, hence the 3.5 stars. There was some good chemistry between the two of them but this is a rated G book. There was a couple of kisses and tight breeches but that is it for the heat level.
There was lots of dialogue throughout the entire book and that was good. The story line flowed nicely. It was a short book so not full of filler nonsense, that's a plus too.
As for the narration. It was good. The men sounded like men and everyone had their own distinct voice. It was easy to follow along without the text.
This was a very cute story. I liked it. I liked the heroine, she was spunky. The hero was interesting too. I haven't read a historical with a Gypsy hero before, so that was a change. They had some good chemistry together. No sex in this story but there was kissing and "discomfort in breeches" So it is rated G.
I liked the story line and the plot, except for one thing that happened didn't get any closure. But I guess that's okay. There is lots of dialogue throughout the entire book which was great! I like it when people talk to each other and we don't just get the inner thoughts. So good job on the dialogue!
As for the narration, Stevie Zimmerman did a good job with everyone's voices and the reading voice, except I didn't care for the voice she did for Emil our hero. He was a Gypsy so of course he needed and accent but he just didn't sound very sexy or handsome, he sounded sort of dumb at times. Hence the 3 stars for narration.
This story was just not for me. I prefer sex in the story, not story in between sex, and then sex and then more sex. And this is pretty much how the book went. A little story and A LOT of sex.
The narration was a bit annoying, Very long pauses at the end of each sentence. The reading voice was exactly the same as the hero, So sometimes it was confusing.
I ended up not finishing this.
This was a good story. Murder, mystery and romance. I really liked the hero, Jack. He was a great character. I liked the heroine Grace too. I think they had some good chemistry together. A nicely written sex scene so it's not rated G.
I kind of figured out the mystery early on, but that's ok. There is lots of dialogue throughout the entire book. (I like lots of dialogue)
And oh my, that Rosa! Wow what a mother! And I don't mean that in a good way! She was awful.
As for the narration, I really liked it. I thought Michelle Ford did a great job. I think she gave all everyone their own voice and the men sounded like men. Her reading voice was great.
Got this for free with my KU and only 1.99 on audible so it was a great deal for sure!
Well, this story just seemed to go on and on with a lot of filler nonsense. The concept was good, but the story was just MEH.... Sort of boring immortals, nothing special about them to speak of.
Really, all in all nothing happened throughout this book. There was lots of dialogue in the entire book, so there is that. (Love lots of dialogue).
There was zero sex in this book and just a couple of "stolen kisses". This book is rated G.
The narration was fantastic! Love Fiona Hardingham's narrations. She has a great reading voice, gives everyone their own distinct voice and the men sound like men.
The only reason I finished this book was because of the narration. If I had only been reading this I would have quit it.
I really enjoyed this story. Loved the heroine, Victoria, she was cute and sassy with a mind of her own. The hero, Phin was awesome. He was charismatic and sexy. There was no sex in this book so it is rated G. There is attraction and the mention of "breeches tightening" LOL so there is that.
The story line and plot was good. This book was full of great dialogue, lots of it. Since it was fairly short it wasn't full of filler nonsense. Always a plus not have to read or listen to all that filler nonsense.
The narration was good. I think I like Stevie Zimmerman historical romance narrations better than regular contemporary or paranormal. She gave everyone their own distinct voice and the men sounded like men. She could use a little more emotion in her reading but she does do some so it is not so monotone.
I got this as a free on amazon and 1.99 audible for whispersync so a great deal!
This was an entertaining story. I liked the heroine, Elle, she was a strong business woman. I liked Drake too but would have liked to know more about him, he seemed to be behind the scenes more than with Elle in this story. Not sure I liked the I Love You the day after their one night stand, a bit much to me. The relationship seemed to forced. The chemistry was somewhat there. I think I liked the story of Elle and her business more than the "love story" part of this book. There was a couple of mildly written sex scenes, very mild.
There was lots of dialogue throughout the entire book which was great, I like lots of dialogue.
As for the narration, I like Amy McFadden she does a decent job, everyone has their own distinct voice, and she does try to make the men sound like men. She reads with emotion and that is good too.
I got this free on amazon and 1.99 audible whispersync so it was definitely a good deal!
This was a funny fun read/listen. I really liked all the characters. The story was very funny at times. The storyline flowed nicely. There wasn't any sex to speak of, maybe one small mild scene. There was plenty of attraction. Lots and lots of dialogue throughout the entire book which made it even better.
As for the narration... I was great! I really do like Susan Duerden's narrations of Historical Romance Novels. She really does a fantastic job! She uses all the inflections the story calls for, Laughing, yelling, whispering, etc.. The men sound like men and the ladies sound like ladies. Everyone has their own distinct voice, it is not confusing at all.
I didn't really care for this story at all, it just seemed ramble on and on about nothing. A lot of blah blah blah....
The story was so very boring too. I got about half way through and just gave up and didn't finish it. Since my mom read this book I asked her who did it and what happened. Well, after she told me, I am glad I didn't waste anymore time, because she didn't tell me anything that would have made me wish I had finished it. No surprises, nothing.
I didn't care for the narration either. One or the other would have been better. Things seemed to get lost in translation. Maybe if Nick Podehl did all the male characters and Amy McFadden did all the female characters and they read it together it would have been much better, but they did not, so this is where we get lost in translation..
