Britain’s high society—le bon ton—loves nothing more than a good scandal, and they’re giddy with the appearance of wealthy Samuel Hartley. Not only is he self-made, American, and in the habit of wearing moccasins, but he is also notorious for fleeing a battle in which several English gentlemen lost their lives. Lady Emeline Gordon is captivated by Samuel. Not only does he defy convention with his unusual dress, his sensual smile, and his forthright manner, but he survived the battle that killed her beloved brother.

This book was not the best of Elizabeth Hoyt. I tolerated it because I want to listen to the rest of the series which has much better reviews. The heroine in this book was just too much of a bitch. The narrator is just okay and that is being generous. I really hope the next book is better as suggested.

Scots, Spies and Salacious Lies is a compilation of three Regency Novellas. The first, "Compromised at Christmas" was the beginning of the Tenacious Trents Series.

I don't usually ever read novellas but I really liked this narrator and took a chance. I am happy I did. These 3 novellas were fun to read. They were short and to the point quickly. No fillers. A very nicely written sex scene in the first story and sensual attraction in the second two stories. There was lots of dialogue throughout all three stories. This is my first Jane Charles read and I really like her writing style.
I would definitely read more of her books.

I have to point out that the Narration was just fantastic! 10 stars!! I could listen to Marian Hussey narrate every historical romance novel. She does a great job on giving everyone a distinctive voice and a fabulous job on the men's voices.

Miss Gail Alton was not having a good day. Or a good year. First, she's strong-armed into attending the Season as a foil to her beautiful sister,Evangeline. Then, while riding her mare in the park, she gets toppled by a stuffy, self-important, too-handsome-by-half "gentleman" who has the audacity to blame her for their fall into the chilly lake! Little does Gail know that the very same man will soon be found in a compromising position with her sister....

This was a nice story. A bit of fluff for sure, but it was nice. I liked the heroine better than the hero in this story. She was a strong, smart, and witty character. It could have been shorter by a couple of hours. There was 1 nice sex scene but I thought the sexual tension was lacking a bit or maybe it was the chemistry. It was also missing any plot or mystery and no surprises at all. Very predictable.

I wont be racing to read another of this authors books.

The narration I thought was very good. I think that is what kept me interested.

Bold, impulsive, and a magnet for trouble, Juliana Fiori is no simpering English miss. She refuses to play by society's rules: She speaks her mind, cares nothing for the approval of the ton, and can throw a punch with remarkable accuracy. Her scandalous nature makes her a favorite subject of London's most practiced gossips...and precisely the kind of woman the duke of Leighton wants far far away from him.

This was an okay story, not nearly as good as the second book. I liked the chemistry and the bickering between Juliana and Simon "The Duke". The story was good. I would have liked there to be a better ending with the mother, ie, she deserved to get exiled or something without a penny. But unfortunately that was left with no resolution.

The narration was not the best. I thought the narrator did the men's voices better than the women's. She made Juliana sound like a wretched old crow most of the time, especially when she was angry. And she should never do an Italian voice ever again.

What a disappointing story. I loved the first 2 books in this series and was really looking forward to this one and it was not good at all.

This book was lacking in every department. The plot, the story line, the chemistry, the characters, the character development, a terrible hero and boring heroine.

And the title of the book makes no sense. There was no schooling of any scoundrel.

This book needs re written in its entirety to come close in comparison to the first two books.

The narration was okay, not the worst and not the best.

Credit worthy, No, not to me. Especially if you listened to or read the first two books.

Well I was so looking forward to this book because the Spymaster's Lady was so good. Unfortunately this book does not even compare. There were so many random characters brought in with no explanation as to who they were or their purpose. The story was okay but could have been much better. There was nothing very "spyish" in this book. In addition it seemed to go on and on and on...

The best part of the book is Hawker! His story is The Black Hawk, I am looking forward to that book if it comes out on audible. I would not want to read it due to so many french words.

I was glad this book ended..

The narrator was totally and completely fantastic! Nobody could have done better and that is the only thing that kept me listening to the end, otherwise I would not have finished the story.

This book was just okay. It was too long and wordy. There were about 3 stories being told in one book. There was nothing exciting, nor were there any omg moments.. I thought the ending was drab.

Credit worthy? not really, it was pretty much a waste of time compared some stories. I struggled to get through this long story.

The narrator did a fine job. Justine Eyre so you know what your going to get listening to her narrations.

For ages, it seems, advice columnist Annabelle Swift has loved Derek Knightly, editor-owner of the London Weekly, from a distance. Determined to finally attract her boss's attention, she seeks advice from her loyal readers, who offer Annabelle myriad suggestions, from lower-cut bodices (success!) and sultry gazes (disaster!) to a surprise midnight rendezvous (wicked!). Derek never really took note of his shy, wallflower lady writer. But suddenly she's exquisite, and he can't get Annabelle out of his mind!

This was another good writing girl story. I liked the hero, and the heroine was a bit too shy for my tastes but still likable since she was trying to come out of that "unnoticed" persona. There was a bit of repetitive thoughts I felt were too much of a filler.

But the story was still good. There was sexual tension, chemistry and one nicely written sex scene. There was enough dialogue too.

All HEA's for the Writing Girls of the London Weekly

The narrator did a great job, the men sounded like men and the rest of the characters had their own distinct voice,. Good job Ms. Morris on a very good narration.

But when Queen Victoria proposes a reformation plan to the House of Lords that would have the wretched souls of nearby St. Giles moving into his territory, Devil sets out to buy, bribe, and steal the votes he needs to stop her. One vote short and running out of time, Devil has Lord Edwards's daughter kidnapped and held captive. The price of her freedom? Lord Edwards's vote.

This was a good book, a little different than what I am used to in a historical romance novel. The hero and heroine were both strong and had good chemistry. There is plenty of action going on throughout the book, some unsavory. There was lots of dialogue.
There was OMG moments as well.
I thought it was all in all a good book. Not a long book so no filler moments.

The narrator did a really great job. The men sounded like men, and the rest of the characters had their own distinctive voice. Kudos to Michaela James for a great narration.
