Oh my, I would love to know the word count on Deceive and Deceived. I do believe those words would total over 200 if not more. And I don't believe I am exaggerating. Also, I like a whole lot more dialog, this book had very little dialog in my opinion. The repetitive description of the feelings between the two main characters was just too much. The same thing over and over. I feel like the author couldn't think of anything to write so she would just repeat their feelings and thoughts. I did finish the book, even though I did predict the ending long before the ending. I am not saying the book was bad just annoying with very little dialog. It could have been much better, the plot and story line had so much potential. The narrator I thought did an excellent job and I think that's what kept me listening to the end.
This book was boring and there was no dialogue. I cant stand a book where there is no dialogue unless its a fantastic story and this was not a fantastic story.
Narration wasn't the best either. Need to listen on 1.25 speed for sure.
This was a cute story. It is definitely a historical romance version of the Bachelor/Bachelorette.
Like if the Bachelorette had 25 guys to choose from and she ended up picking Chris Harrison. LOL
There was some good dialogue, smart heroine, and sexual tension with a couple sex scenes thrown in.
The narrator did a decent job. I would listen to her again. (There are some narrators I refuse to listen to)
This story was way to long at 12 hours and 39 minutes. I could have been shortened by 2-4 hours. It wasn't a bad story it was just full of a lot of filler nonsense.
The dialogue was good and there was plenty of dialogue if you like a lot in your books like I do. There was no sex, a little sexual tension but not much.
Not sure I am an Amanda Quick fan as I have only read 2 of her books. This one which was just okay and The River Knows which I really enjoyed. I did listen to both on audible and the narrator for this book was a bit annoying and the narrator for The River Knows was fantastic. So maybe that is why I feel the way I do.
The narrator was a bit annoying for my taste. Also the hero's voice sounded to much like the reading voice. The heroine's voice was fine. I would prefer to listen to a different narrator like Katherine Kellegren.
This was a great story. Loved all the characters and the story line. Its a great vampire book. I totally recommend this book as well as the first book in the NIght Huntress World, First Drop of Crimson. I read this book before I read the Night Huntress Series with Cat and Bones. Then of course i moved on to that series and it was fantastic as well.
The narrator is my very very favorite.I love Tavia Gilbert. She is amazing in all her narrations.
This was a great story, but you must like lots and lots of hot and steamy sex in your books. The story line was good, I would have liked there to have been a little more story to this book though. It was definitely less story in between the tutelage of being a mistress. I liked the characters very much. It was a hot and steamy romance for sure.
if you like this book you would like Her Husbands Harlot, Mayhem in Mayfair series by Grace Calloway all three of those books were very good.
I thought the narrator did a excellent job.
This was an interesting story and different from your normal historical romance and I don't want to give any spoilers away. The hero and heroine were strong, smart and witty. Some good secondary characters. Plenty of dialogue and some hot and steamy sex scenes.
The narrator did a fantastic job I thought. You could totally tell the difference between the male characters and female characters. I would definitely listen to more of Carmen Rose narrations.
I was just reading an amazon review by Luba Roland who describes this book as raunchy and bordering on porn. Wow, that couldn't be further from my opinion. I found the sex extremely mild, so I totally disagree with that review.
On to my review now..
This was a good story. From some of the other reviews I thought it was going to be 3 separate books. However, it was one story with three love stories woven in that included 2 sisters and a brother all finding their happily ever after at their uncle's Birthday party. Which I was glad for. Good characters, good stories and dialogue with very mild sex scenes.
I listened to this book via audible as I read along and the narration was okay, too many male characters with the same sounding voice was confusing at times.
This was a great story. I absolutely loved the way the heroine's character was written. She was smart, funny, witty and very charming. Although he is described as having a hook nose he was also described as having a very hot body. I really really liked this story, I don't usually read books that were written so long ago, I think this was first published in 1995. However, the writing of this book was fantastic. There was plenty of great dialogue.
I would love to see more Loretta Chase historical romance books available on audible.
The narrator did a fantastic job, especially on how she gave the heroines tone of voice so matter of factly. Loved the narration.
It was a bit annoying that the heroine, Aurora was sometimes strong and willful and sometimes constantly crying. And the hero, Quin most of the time a jerk to her which was causing her to cry. I think the story would have been better if he wasn't such a jerk most of the time and she stood up to him more.
Oh and the fact that for most of the book (90%) they didn't even speak to each other or get to know each other. The only time they spoke was when they were in in bed and not enough to even get to know each other.
Otherwise it was an okay story.
The narration I thought was pretty good. I would have liked the men's voices to be a bit deeper. It was not the best or the worst narration I have listened to.
I had to return this book as the audio is terrible. The back ground fuzzy noise is awful.
