After this one.... now I have my doubts

Possibly, but only after strong recommendations from other listeners.

Performance was fine, the content of the book just did not deliver.

They all need work.....

I was a fan of Wilson's Robopocalypse so I was expecting more of the same action and interesting story-line. This book simply did not deliver. I found it boring, predictable, and was very disappointed.

What made the experience of listening to Swan Song the most enjoyable?

Wow! What an awesome story! Gripping, gritty, and engaging. Wonderful narration. Really got a feel for the characters. Long, but you don't really want it to stop...so that's a good thing :)

Very disappointed. Felt like I was listening to the scene-by-scene narration of a ridiculous video game. Not what I was expecting. Very predictable and silly. I just had to stop after the main character (a mere mortal mind you) jumped on the back of a 30 foot crocodile and snapped its neck with his bare hands ....ya....right. Even fiction has it's limits of believability.

I'm a big fan of most of Dickey's work - especially the Gideon series of novels. If you're looking for more of that type - this book definitely not one to recommend. The narration is great as usual, but the story is way to slow with sporadic action mostly late in the book, and the characters are..... (odd choice of word here but fitting)....irritating. Main character is a morally mixed up whining sap. Listened to the whole book but can't say that I enjoyed it.
