Very good "whodunit". I could not figure out the murderer although there were clues. Very good! One technical issue: the book was taped at such a low volume that I had to listen with earbuds. I tried my usual plugging into Bose but the sound was too low.
I finished this book reluctantly. I found it too wordy, too detailed, with Abby full of stupid old cliches. I increased the reading speed to finish. The narrator was great! I don't like critiquing a book because I can't write one. I thank the author for all of the brilliant ideas.
This was a great mystery that kept me guessing. I thought that I had it figured out several times but I was wrong. I loved the narrator. He was perfect for this book! I'll be looking for more Lisa Jackson. I hope that the same narrator will be used.
I was expecting a book about an art forger but the storyline was different from your typical thief book! It exceeded my expectations. It operated from a completely different but delightful angle. It was a little slow at first but then I could not put it down until I finished it!
The narration was wonderful! It was the only reason that I continued to read. The story was insignificant and vague. This was not a book that I would read over a weekend because I couldn't put it down. I just wanted the boredom to end. I don't think that the reasons for the initial murder was developed and had robe explained at the end.
I think that the worse thing was imply that this book was similar to "Gone Girl". This was such a slow moving book but with such great narration. I feel that I lost 9 hours of my life and would never recommend this to my book club. The epilogue should not have to explain the book. There should have been more information all along to make us wonder. Sure there was this remark that gave a hint but that was not enough. To me, a former good mystery will have enough clues for me to solve it or at least be suspicious. This book did not. If I had not read a "spoiler ", I would have stopped reading this book. I was so sick of the cabin life.
This was so much like the Evanovich books but no grandmother to enhance it! Ramirez even wore a black shirt like the other series ! The narrator was GREAT! She sounded exactly the way I thought that Maddie would sound. She made the story! I wanted to know the ending but I was disappointed that it was so similar to the other series.
Sorry but I expected more details about the birth of drug trafficking. I hate to complain but this book was so much worse for me because of the narration. First of all, it was taped at a volume lower than my next book. Worse was the laid back voice of the narrator. He had a nice deep voice but inappropriate for this text. My mind would wonder off because the reading showed no enthusiasm, just monotone. I expected a Spanish accented voice. I found that I had to change the speaking speed to 1.5 on my iPhone to listen and stay awake. Sorry but I did not enjoy this and could not wait to get finished to have it behind me.
I cannot believe how simply this course is broken down. This course is so clear and concise that I am speaking and understanding already before completing the course. The course does not let you forget words that you have already learned.
I think that the unique thing about this course is that the narrator questions you. This questioning forces you to think and respond because you want to do well. I usually cannot respond in the time allotted so I stop the tape. Also my goal is to respond faster.
First, I love the narrator's voice. Second, I like how he phrases his questions to you. I like the reminders.
I live in Miami and want to learn Spanish so badly. I have a southern accent which does not help because I drag my words out. I am ashamed to say how long I have owned and used Rosetta Stone and how many Spanish classes that I have quit, including one last month. In other words, I have gotten no where with Spanish until now. I was in class with a guy who swore by the Pimsleur Method and I saw his progress and the lack of mine. My main comment is: Thanks, Paul Pimsleur. I did not believe that learning Spanish was a possibility for me. I also want to add that I am 64 years old - "old dog - new tricks!"
It would have been better if it had been accompanied with a book, PDF, notes or something. I am new at learning Spanish and I could not understand what was going on. I noticed that the chapters were extremely short. I cannot imagine something interesting going that fast.
Maybe after I have more experience in Spanish.
The performance seemed fine with my limited knowledge of Spanish.
