Robert Baer was known inside the CIA as perhaps the best operative working the Middle East. Dana was originally tasked for Agency background checks, but always wanted more. When Bob and Dayna met on a mission in Sarajevo, it wasn’t love at first sight. But there was something there, a spark. And as the danger escalated and their affection for each other grew, they realized it was time to leave “the Company,” to somehow rediscover the people they’d once been. As worldly as they both were, the couple didn’t realize at first that turning in their Agency ID cards would not be enough to put their covert past behind.

I was really looking forward to this book, but it was not worth the money I paid for it. Even I have a more interesting life than these two!! Don't buy this if you are looking for anything beyond mundane.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I found this book to be an okay mystery, but the reader was poor, especially on the women's voices. He made the teenage daughters voice so whiney all the time-it really got old.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

It was a little to graphic for me especially since it is listed a Christian fiction.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Yes, not enough range of voice in his characters-lots of times too flat.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No way too much violence for the screen.

As the U.S. Navy searches for weapons-grade plutonium that has been smuggled by terrorists out of Russia, a submarine mishap in the Black Sea brings the United States and Russia to the brink of nuclear war. It is a race against the clock, with Russian missiles activated and programmed for American cities.

What made the experience of listening to Black Sea Affair the most enjoyable?

The story started out very slow, but it did build up. But what annoyed me in the extreme was using a British narrator for what was suppose to be an American Naval drama. James Adams barely tried to use an American accent and he used all the British pronunciations for words like schedule. It detracted from the whole book.

If you’ve listened to books by Don Brown before, how does this one compare?

I liked his other books better.

Would you be willing to try another one of James Adams’s performances?

Only if the story was set in Britain

Former forensic scientist Lisa Black taps her expertise for this tale of investigator Theresa MacLean and the perplexing case she tackles. A dead woman has been found in the woods, and the cause of death is unclear. The leading theory is that she wandered off and froze. But Theresa senses something far more sinister.

I enjoyed this new (for me) writer and I thought her mystery interesting. Having grown up in Ohio, I liked this was set in Cleveland. Hope to see more of Lisa Black's work on audible

Herman Wouk's sweeping epic of World War II stands as the crowning achievement of one of America's most celebrated storytellers. Like no other books about the war, Wouk's spellbinding narrative captures the tide of global events - and all the drama, romance, heroism, and tragedy of World War II - as it immerses us in the lives of a single American family drawn into the very center of the war's maelstrom.

Arlen Wagner has an awful gift: he can see death in the eyes of men before it strikes. He's never wrong. So when Arlen awakens on a train one hot Florida night and sees death's telltale sign in the eyes of his fellow passengers, he tries to warn them. Only 19-year-old Paul Brickhill believes him, and the two abandon the train, hoping to escape certain death. They continue south, but soon are stranded at The Cypress House - an isolated Gulf Coast boarding house run by the beautiful Rebecca Cady - directly in the path of an approaching hurricane.

After reading Michael Koryta's Lincoln Perry series my husband and I were eager for more from this author. Unfortunately this is as far from Lincoln Perry as can be. This is a paranormal tale and not at all what we were expecting. If paranormal and not murder mystery is for you this might be good for you, but we didn't like it at all.
