"Statistical Nirvana"
I love sports and statistics this was a perfect storm!
The way the book goes to the true value of particular trends in a range of sports
N/A good read
Moneyball
Book was strong on Baseball and NFL but struggled a little when it went into other sports. Got a little dry after a while.
"An unconvincing rabble of an argument"
No - if you have even a passing knowledge of terrorism and investigative procedures you will be picking holes in this book the whole way through to the completely fanciful final hour of this book.
Davis has taken a few sketchy descriptions and gone about trying to confirm the case rather than looking at the whole case - a wonderful study in confirmation bias. She spends a long time on very tenuous links but no time looking at the case the prosecution put up.
Don't waste your time - go read Marc Sagemen and get a good feel for what drives home grown terrorism.
No, I will just avoid conspiracy books
First read by Jerry for me - a serviceable performance
I kept going thinking there must be more but it all built up to a truly farcical conclusion
If you like Glenn Beck and Infowars you will probably love this
"MASH on Acid!"
Decided to check this out given its iconic nature and it is a crazy ride. Really good account of the absurdity of war and the mind bending circumstances for its combatants. I struggled at times with this just the crazy logic (or lack of it) but it always brought me back. you can see this as the forerunner for some of the great war stories such as MASH and even Full Metal Jacket.
A classic and deservedly so.
"Good introduction to Malcolm X"
This is a good (but rather short) biography on Malcolm X. The narration is very good and what there is of the story is well researched and informative.
Having read stories on Martin Luther King Jr the difference in life stories of these two men is intriguing. Well worth a listen if you are interested in the civil rights movement.
"Start of the excellent prey series"
I read these books twenty years ago now and have been an avid fan of the series ever since. John Sandford finds a way to drag you into the characters and it was great to go back to where it all began. Not the greatest performance but not the worst either.
I highly recommend this series for any fan of the serial killer/cop genre, these are good gritty urban tales with a good sense of humour about them also.
"A must read for counter terrorism students"
I am studying counter terrorism at the moment and I would highly recommend this to any one studying or just interested in the field. A very insightful look at terrorism and how to combat it.

Good read, not one of my favorites though.
Made me think about the topic in a new way
One of the better books on CT out there
"Tyler tells all"
Very interesting book, solid expose of cycling.
I had just read the Bush at War series before this and in some ways it lifts the veil on a world we only glimpse into much the same way.
The discussion of how Tyler first came to dope
The persistence of USADA to go after Armstrong was impressive
As a casual cycling fan I found this fascinating, Hamilton does not leave any thing out and should be commended for his candor. A really interesting read for any sports fan.
"Quality Crime Fiction"
Jack Irish is a great character and great to read a book set in Australia
It is like an Australian version of the Prey series by John Sandford.
First time for Chiappi, really enjoyed his performance. Easy to follow characters.
Book built nicely without any silly or over the top twists
Peter Temple is a great author - check out the Broken Shore, one of my all time favourites
