Love this series!. However, this is, for me, the least favorite of the books because I found Smitty to be way more whiny than I thought he would be from how his character was portrayed in The Mane Event. That's just my personal view. I thought the narration was better in the Mane Event, where the characters seemed to be portrayed more distinctly. I would have liked the male voices to sound more ... male. The genders came across somewhat androgynous. The speed of the audiobook was still way too fast (similar problem in the first audiobook The Mane Event). But I love my Shelly Laurenston books and I'll take them any way I can get them.
I loved the story in this series and still do. It's with the audio book version that I find myself very disappointed.
NO. The narrator just doesn't do much for me when portraying her male roles. Her voice doesn't do well in representing the male characters because rather than being deep it just comes out nasally and too high. This is a big disappoint to me given how much I love this series and the male characters.
Thank you to whoever slowed down the timing on the narration ... soooo much better than the performance in The Mane Event and The Beast in Him. Overall, the performance was just better .. yay! I can't wait for the next book to show up.
Love this series and loved this book and story. The speed of the audiobook was a real problem as it was way too fast and really degraded the performance - and enjoyment - in the story. I hope the powers that be do a much better job with the subsequent books.
This short story is an erotic romance. The author reading it sounds like an annoying tour-guide or kindergartner teacher reading to kids. Her cadence is a "sing-song" melody and extremely irritating. The story line is fairly light, so the awful narration takes the overall experience down to a zero. Glad I didn't spend more on this purchase.
