I SO wanted to listen to this travelogue but I couldn't bear the sing song narration. Cathy Dobson brings no meaning to the words. David Shaw-Parker was marvelous in the DH Lawrence short stories. If he had read this, I'm certain I would have loved it ...... or at least been able to finish it. So disappointing.

the male equivalent of romance novels. I'd say it's dated but even Wilkie Collins published a hundred years earlier doesn't demonstrate such a juvenile view of women. Simon Vance does his usual good reading but can't save the book. ugh!

I'm listened to many, many audible books over the past five or so years and this is the best narration I've heard. Completely authentic sounding and bringing this wild tale to life, John Ventimiglia does a fantastic job. Really enjoyed it.

Like Patricia I was afraid to purchase based on the negative reviews but decided to go ahead. I've read or listened to the whole series and I really enjoyed this one. "heavy dose of anti-drinking sentiment" ...... huh????? Of course, this style of mystery is not for everyone. If you enjoy Kinsey....take the plunge.
