never would i listen to martin gollery. the voice just didn't agree with me.
unfortunately, it was when the narrator made a mistake, then backed up & repeated the word correctly... 3 times in 15 minutes... no editing? seriously? lol.
just doesn't sound like this is his thing. not believable, poor voice impressions...
love me some audible
i also listened to book #2 hoping that the writing and characters would improve, but they didn't. they might have even gotten worse. the story is creative, but just about everything lacked depth. i won't be listening to book #3.
i'm sure i couldn't do any better, but it sure seemed like the writing and dialog was written for young kids at times. the characters don't seem to have a lot of depth and somethings just flat out didn't make sense to me. i won't be listening to book 3.
i enjoyed the movie, but i found that there really wasn't much more to the characters in the book than the movie portrayed.
and in addition to no character development, the narrator seemed pretty bored with the story. it's like he was trying to put us to sleep. despite all that, since i liked the genre, i liked it enough to finish.
I don't understand how this only gets a 4.0 from some people! crazy creative and interesting!
the actual writing still feels like OSC, but the imagination put into this book doesn't feel remotely close to the first ender series. it's at the point where despite reading the original and a few of the shadow series books, i'm not even sure i'll listen to book #4. :(
this book has lots of fun references to movies, music, games and movies. but it's a fun listen even without knowing all the refs. if you aren't into computer games, this might not be for you.
the story and characters weren't overly interesting, but the premise was interesting enough to keep it interesting.
it was a lot like the other area 51 Voss, minus that one name character we all love. nonetheless, the backstory was fun to hear. So I was hoping to hear more about the origins of the swarm
I found myself a little bored at times with this and nexus. there is definitely the set up for a third book, but I'm not sure I will listen to it. there were great parts to this book, but there was a lot of flat and boring parts too. I thought this was going to be a book that I enjoyed re-listening to, but I won't be.
nonetheless, it is a very interesting concept.
