Storys and Highlights of a great comic. It does not get any better or sadder. Don't listen if you are easily offended.

In a time long forgotten, a preternatural event threw the seasons off balance. In a land where summers can last decades and winters a lifetime, trouble is brewing. As the cold returns, sinister forces are massing beyond the protective wall of the kingdom of Winterfell. To the south, the king's powers are failing, with his most trusted advisor mysteriously dead and enemies emerging from the throne's shadow.

I like a dark story and unhappy endings...but for some reason I did not like this book. The book does have interesting parts and some good characters...but I do not think I will be reading anymore from this series.

The only way I can describe the book's author is abusive. The author created characters that are so unlikable I almost can't stand reading about them. Also, the way the author craps on everyone else is off-putting.

I cannot put my finger on the reason I do not like this authors writing. Here is my best explanation of the authors delivery: Two guys are at a party...the first guy will tell a joke and everyone laughs. The second guy will tell the same joke to a different group of people...not only does the second group not laugh but they think "what a prick". This author is the second guy.

English magicians were once the wonder of the known world, with fairy servants at their beck and call; they could command winds, mountains, and woods. But by the early 1800s they have long since lost the ability to perform magic. They can only write long, dull papers about it, while fairy servants are nothing but a fading memory.

This was fair story that takes time to unfold. The first one third of the book was a bit of a snore.

I will likely read more from this author because the universe that is created is interesting.

In Unfamiliar Fishes, Sarah Vowell argues that 1898 might be a year just as crucial to our nation's identity, a year when, in an orgy of imperialism, the United States annexed Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and Guam, and invaded Cuba and then the Philippines, becoming a meddling, self-serving, militaristic international superpower practically overnight. Of all the countries the United States invaded or colonized in 1898, Vowell considers the story of the Americanization of Hawaii to be the most intriguing.

If you like history with a little snark and sarcasm you should listen to Sara Vowell.

This is not her best book. With that said...if you are a fan of Sara Vowell you will like this look.

If you are new to Sara Vowell, start with Assassination Vacation.

"Name of the Wind" and "Wise Man’s Fear" is now in my “Favorite All Time Book” category. The story is great, the world he created is interesting, and you cannot help falling in love with the characters.

This book is so well written. It makes you realize how poorly so many modern books are written. It’s so obvious the author put a lot of time and love into this book. This was one audio book I never wanted to end.

After I finished these two audio books, I went out and bought hard back copies for my library.

Already cited on the floor of Congress and discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a book all Americans should read, One Second After is the story of a war scenario that could become all too terrifyingly real. Based upon a real weapon - the Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) - which may already be in the hands of our enemies, it is a truly realistic look at the awesome power of a weapon that can destroy the entire United States.

In found this book to be very unnerving. The realization of just how dependent we are on our infrastructure was spooky. When I finished this book I stared at the wall for 15minutes thinking about this book.

Only minor problem I had with this book was the lack of cannibalism in the town. I think that more people when faced with starvation would resort to cannibalism.

    Story

This was my first but not my last Haruki Murakami book.

I bought this book because it was described as Sci Fi and on so many Best Books of 2011 lists. In my opinion this book is a love story with a little Sci Fi thrown in.

The writing in this book is beautiful. The descriptions in the book are simple and almost unnervingly vivid at the same time. But…this is a long book with a slow pace. The story, although not uninteresting, unfold very slowly.

If you like fast paced books with big payoffs at the end, this book is not for you. I don’t mind books that leave loose ends but I could understand why some people would be disappointed after 42hours.

I’m conflicted about this book. The last book to leave me this conflicted was One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

In the end...this book reminds me of Music by Chanting Monks. The first time I listened I thought it was incredibly beautiful. But after an hour I thought…”that’s enough Chanting Monks” and I put in different music.
