Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I wouldn't recommend this book for someone trying to become a writer. I'm sure it would be fine for that but there are probably better books on that score. This book excels on two points: first it was interesting to hear the context of some of the works that have become a part of the culture. Second I love hearing the story of a person who loves what they do and that's where this story really shines. If that's what you're looking for I'd recommend it.

  • Hot, Flat, and Crowded: Why We Need a Green Revolution - and How It Can Renew America

    • UNABRIDGED (21 hrs)
    • By Thomas L. Friedman
    • Narrated By Oliver Wyman
    Overall
    (949)
    Performance
    (210)
    Story
    (219)

Friedman brings a fresh outlook to the crises of destabilizing climate change and rising competition for energy - both of which could poison our world if we do not act quickly and collectively. His argument speaks to all of us who are concerned about the state of America in the global future.

Sean says: "Long, Flat, and Boring"
    "So many platitudes."
    Overall

This was a really rough listen. It was just platitude after platitude and false choices like, would you rather be stuck in traffic or drive an eco-friendly car and so forth for hours and hours. This would be a good listen for someone who is left leaning and not too interested in subjecting arguements to critical thinking.
