Ms. Andrews performance is flawless. Perhaps a little monotonous at times but mostly melodious, nonetheless. Besides The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins and Victor, Victoria, what do you know about her? So many musicals and homes away from home, beginning at such an early age. A truly compelling story.
This book will make you question the capitalistic world we live in. We are surrounded by industries whose sole purpose is to make money, at whatever the cost. They cannot wait for nature to do what pesticides and herbicides will do in a fraction of the time.
A sad but true fact.
This story is full of wit and humour, not a boring moment despite often discouraging circumstances. You'll never look at (or taste ) dessert the same, ever again...!
Being used to Mr Marsters' narration makes this book quite different, in all sense of the word. The female characters are difficult to differentiate from the male characters; and even though Mr Glover does a fine job of rendering Harry Dresden, he does not have the sort of 'nonchalance' we are used to.
As for the story itself, I found myself tired of the nonending descriptions...especially at the beginning of a suspensful scene. It does break the momentum quite a bit.
Despite all, this is an entertaining book for any Dresden fan.
Expect the unexpected from Rachel Morgan. It will keep you hooked! Ms. Gavin is, as usual, practically flawless.
When will this series be adapted for tv? It would be excellent!
Mr Meagher's reading is flawless, however he does not seem to realize that this type of suspense story needs PAUSES to add to the overall effect. He is in such a hurry to finish the book that sometimes we do not know when a chapter ends. It is often difficult to absorb the story (considering audible listeners usually drive, cook, jog...etc. when listening!) because of excessive 'speed reading'. Please slow down Mr Meagher, not so fast!!
With magic, a story can go anywhere, anything can happen. That's what I love about this series. I have come to expect everything and nothing, and am always pleasantly surprised.
Go Rachel, go!
The story is good, but a little lacking in substance. The narration equals this as well. You sort of expect a great climax, but my reaction was, 'that's it?'
As 'exciting' as the book.
What I like about Kim Harrison's books are her consistency but her unpredictability!Listening to Ms. Gavin's narration makes it worthwhile. Even though this is the type of book (vampires, witches, elves...) that I did not think I'd read in a million years, I will if the future audio books in the series are 2 credits. Much too expensive!
These books would make an excellent tv series.
I've been a Dexter fan for many years. The narrator definitely gives us a feel for the darkness inside.
