The 1938 classic tells the story of Mr. Popper, the small-town housepainter who dreamed of exploring Antarctic regions, and Captain Cook, the redoubtable penguin who turned Mr. Popper's world upside down.

    Melissa says: "A children's classic"
"Well done - fit the time in which it was written."

A teacher read this story in one of my grade school classes many years ago. I enjoyed hearing it again.

"It lost too much in the translation."

Way over dramatized. I prefer hearing an unabridged reading.

A forgotten wardrobe becomes the pathway to adventure as four children step into another time and place. When Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy discover Narnia, they find talking animals, an evil White Witch, and a majestic lion named Aslan. They also find danger, betrayal, and wonders beyond imagination. This epic audio adaptation has become a favorite of families worldwide.

Shane says: "Out of this world....through a wardrobe!"
"It lost too much in the translation."
    Overall

I was disappointed that because this is "dramatized" it did not include the whole book. I much prefer one unabridged reading to shortened dramatizations. I also felt like the person who spoke for Aslan sounded way way over dramatic.

This is the epic prequel to The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. A boy and a girl are tricked into using magic rings. A beautiful and terrifying queen escapes from a dying world. A lion - the great lion Aslan - sings a new world into existence. And so Narnia is born, and already a dark treachery threatens its future.

Shane says: "Read it after the Lion Witch Wardrobe"
    "I prefer unabridged readings."
