From the Booker Prize-winning author of The Remains of the Day and When We Were Orphans, comes an unforgettable edge-of-your-seat mystery that is at once heartbreakingly tender and morally courageous about what it means to be human.

It stays with you long after you finished it. A really great read and beautifully narrated.

In an imagined alternative 1944, Sarah Lewis, a 26-year-old farmer's wife, wakes to find her husband has gone. She is not alone, as all the other women in the Welsh border valley of Olchon wake to discover their husbands have also disappeared.

    "One of the best...."

This book will stay in me for a very long time. It is the best I have listened to for a very long time. I find it difficult to express my feelings but I think it seems so frightening true. It could actually have been like this. The narrator is perfect. On of the best and I warmly recommend this book.

This extraordinary, magical novel is the story of Clare, a beautiful art student, and Henry, a librarian, who have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was 36, and were married when Clare was 22 and Henry 30. Impossible but true, because Henry has Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity in his past, present, and future.

Lucy says: "Worth trying to sort it out"
    "Extremely tiresome."

I agree in every way with kohji from Germany. I thought it would never end, it just went on and on and on.
One thing though - the two narrators were very good.
