This is a well researched book. It is enjoyable to have the familiar story fleshed out like this. But this is not a book for those looking for a fast paced story. It also has a clear Judeo Christian bias, which is the author's perogative but may not sit well with every one. Muslims would probably not appreciate how Hagar is depicted.Sarah's virtues border on the deific although we do get to be the witness to her internal struggles as she tries to live a life surrendered to God's will. I found it inspirational if a little unrealistic. As always I appreciate how Scott Card portrays the seedier sides of life with some discretion.
