  • The Doomsday Key: A Sigma Force Novel, Book 6

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 32 mins)
    • By James Rollins
    • Narrated By Peter Jay Fernandez

At Princeton University, a famed geneticist dies inside a biohazard lab. In Rome, a Vatican archaeologist is found dead in St. Peter's Basilica. In Africa, a U.S. senator's son is slain outside a Red Cross camp. The three murders on three continents bear a horrifying connection: all the victims are marked by a Druidic pagan cross burned into their flesh. The bizarre murders thrust Commander Gray Pierce and Sigma Force into a race against time to solve a riddle going back centuries.

Bob says: "mystery - history storys"

Well, the plot sounded interesting. The description online at sounded good. But, alas, was it good? Not so much.

In reality, the plot is convoluted, the narration dry and boring. I find myself day dreaming during the reading, then snap back to the book and found I must have missed something, because 30 minutes have gone by and I have no idea what just happened.

Ultimately, not worth the time to finish. I'm halfway thru and probably will not finish it, which is sad. I hate leaving books in the middle, and I almost never do.

Next I will be reading "Black Hills", by Nora Roberts. Stay tuned.

    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Once upon a time, one man ruled America's greatest entertainment company. This is the untold story of his triumphs and failures, and of the revolt that cost him his kingdom.

    Christine says: "Utterly fascinating"
"Great book, bad audible book (poor editing)"

I love the book, but the editing was horrendous. Repeated phrases, mispoken words, "corrected" words from the speaker without removing the "incorrect" words. In many spots, it was like a rough cut directly from the recording studio, without final editing. Absolutely no attention was paid to the editing of this product. Very disappointing.

  • Shadow Puppets

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 46 mins)
    • By Orson Scott Card
    • Narrated By David Birney, Stefan Rudnicki

Best selling SF author Orson Scott Card brings to life a new chapter in the saga of Ender's Earth.

Earth and its society have been changed irrevocably in the aftermath of Ender Wiggin's victory over the Formics. The unity forced upon the warring nations by an alien enemy has shattered. Nations are rising again, seeking territory and influence, and most of all, seeking to control the skills and loyalty of the children from the Battle School.

    Amy says: "Great book!"
"Very good completion to Shadow series..."

Unlike what "kwimalar" and others wrote, this is a very good book. It does *not* recount events from the previous books, but brings them to the necessary conclusion. I almost didn't buy this book given these reviews, I'm so glad I did because the story would be incomplete without this book. PLEASE, if you like the Bean/Peter/Petra storyline, buy this book. You will *not* be disappointed.
