One of the best books I've listened to so far!
At first it can be a little confusing. The author introduces you to all these different characters. But by the end of the book, you see how they are all connected.
It's a book where the bad guys get what's coming to them.
The narration was excellent. Tim Dorsey has a new fan!
Yes I would definately recommend the book. The characters were somewhat comical and the little mysteries throughout keeping you listening.
Raised a Christian, I have a belief in God. Towards the end of the book, the other dimensional monster was compared to God.There was also a religious character in the book who turns out to be the bad guy. It made me wonder, is this how the author looks at God.
To me, when listening to my audio books I like narrators who are not monotone. When the narrator reads, you can sense the emotion of the character. All the characters sound different so you can envision what they look like.
Well inspires me the next time I move into an apartment that just feels off, to leave ASAP.
The book is a great listen. It has its funny moments. I understand that everyone has their own religious beliefs. I was just a little taken aback towards the end.
I guess it would be a Stephen because of the sci-fi element.
Each character narrated, you can feel the emotion.
I did not laugh or cry. It did make me think about the future of man; what does evolution have in store for us.
I usually listen to my audio books while I take my commute. There are very few that I actually listen to outside of my commute, i.e. at home relaxing. But this novel I found myself listening to before going to bed at night. I rated it 4/5 because there was one question that was unanswered or perhaps I missed. How everyone that came to Wayward was hit by a truck.
I have to admit in the beginning I was totally confused. I had to rewind and listen to a chapter again. But a trudged on. As I listened, the story grew more and more interesting. I got hooked! I could not wait to buy the second installment to see what happens next. The narrator is great. There is mystery, young romance, and some surprises. I would definitely recommend purchasing this audio.
The overall story is okay. The narrator's performance is bad. The Irish accent sounds like someone from the 1920's. The story gets more and more interesting as you continue to listen. I would recommend purchasing this story only if it a buy one get one free or at a special price.
I listened to about four of Dorsey's audiobooks. This one was atrocious and a pain to listen to. I think I listened to the first hour and just could not take it any more. I don't know whether the story is good. A narrator can make the story interesting but this narrator is horrible.
I actually enjoyed this audiobook. At first I thought that the English accent would get on my nerves. But the performance with pretty great. It' a great mystery as well.
When I first heard that JK was releasing an adult novel, I was so excited. I could not wait to read the angle of her novel. Would it be serious, would be it be comical, or a little of both? To my disappointment, I just can't get into the story. I think that JK's strength is in juvenile fiction. The novel is a snore unfortunately. I must say that I will be requesting my credit back for sure on this one.
I can't believe that I had this story for two months before I listened to it! Oh my! It is not only funny, but so sensual it will leave your mouth open envisioning your own hot dragon-man fantasy!
I enjoyed Barbara Rosenblat's narration of the book. She has an extensive vocal range that lets her differentiate each character. I cannot wait to start on Book 2.
Although I have not read the print version of The Gathering, I am sure it is equally as wondering as the audio edition.
What I loved the most about the story was that it was so descriptive. You could envision in your mind how the characters felt.
Jennifer Ikeda was excellent. I enjoyed listening to her smooth voice.
If I had time I would listen to this book in one sitting.
