First let me say, I love the cadence and tone of Scott Brick's narration. Aside from Scott Brick's use of a few different accents, I found this book a little hard to listen to due to the number of characters. Several times I had to rewind and re-listen just to understand which character was speaking due to the lack of distinction between some of the character voices - mainly the male characters that spoke American English without a foreign accent. I hate to give only 3 stars however because I still enjoy listening to Scott Brick and could not imagine this book being read by anyone else.
Snorting or what ever you call that sound the narrator does every time Piglet speaks. I actually only managed to listen to ten minutes and had to stop listening. Shame since I love the stories.
I would love to see this reread by another narrator or even the same one if he would eliminate those annoying sounds. The background noises are unnecessary as well. I cannot comment on any other character voices aside from Pooh since I did not listen to very much.
definately! Davina brings the story to life more than I could.
In my opinion, Davina Porter is among the best of all the narrators... they include Katherine Kellgren, Roy Dotrice, and Jim Dale.
Katherine Kellgren's portrayal of the characters and her ability to infuse the story with such enthusiastic life. Very few narrators I have listened to perform to her level.
The fantastical situations the lead character finds herself in and her realistic responses to them.
I have a vivid imagination when I read a good book and often come close to forgetting I am just reading a story, but, listening to Katherine does makes me forget I am listening to a book being read.
