Todd, the youngest of four children, has a developmental disability that keeps him at home on the farm with his mother and father. One special holiday season, Todd hears an ad on the radio from a shelter looking for temporary homes for their dogs during the holiday week. When Todd's parents at last give in to his pleas for this charitable cause, the family is faced with an entire shelter full of dogs needing homes.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared.....

What made the experience of listening to Unbroken the most enjoyable?

Just sitting back and listening to Luois' story unfold, sad as it was made the story enjoyable.

What did you like best about this story?

The fact that this was a person's true life story was just amazing!

Which character – as performed by Edward Herrmann – was your favorite?

Luois was by far my favorite chacter.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I wanted to cry several times when Luois was abused so badly in the prisoner of war camp.

I will listen to this book again just because it was so good.

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

I like the audio versions of book because they enable a person to multitask. You cad

The narrator tries to develop each characters personality through voice influction.

Who was the most memorable character of The Help and why?

Skeeter is the most memorable character, because she is so sincere and risks so much to get her point across through her book.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The author does an excellent job of developing the characters and plot. It is apparent that the author spent time researching the underground railroad and quilting folklore aquainted with it.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the quilting information mixed in with the plot. I am a beginner quilter and I have learned a lot about quilting from this author's series. Her information seems to be very accurate. She comes across as being an expert quilter herself through her stories.

    Which scene was your favorite?

There are many favorite scences in the book as well as sad ones.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I almost felt like crying once as one of the characters was being abused.

    Any additional comments?

I highly recommend this book. I can't wait to finish reading the whole series.
