Kyle McAvoy grew up in his father's small-town law office in York, Pennsylvania. He excelled in college, was elected editor-in-chief of The Yale Law Journal, and his future has limitless potential. But Kyle has a secret, a dark one, an episode from college that he has tried to forget. The secret, though, falls into the hands of the wrong people, and Kyle is forced to take a job he doesn't want, even if it's a job most law students can only dream about....

Great beginning - really appreciated the description of the horrid routine of the'big time' law firm associate...
story line/plot is somewhat flat and not particularly complicated - lacks thrilling impending-danger moments
Grisham's endings (as in "The Appeal" also)are beginning to dissappoint an avid fiction reader -
much too realistic and not gratifying!

Daniel Silva delivers another spectacular thriller starring Gabriel Allon, The English Girl. When a beautiful young British woman vanishes on the island of Corsica, a prime minister’s career is threatened with destruction. Allon, the wayward son of Israeli intelligence, is thrust into a game of shadows where nothing is what it seems...and where the only thing more dangerous than his enemies might be the truth.…

Janels says: "Gabriel's story takes huge strides"
"Mediocre – certainly not Silva’s best"

What disappointed you about The English Girl?

    Rather boring and extremely predictable

What was most disappointing about Daniel Silva’s story?

Character developments were lame, at best, and not completed

Which character – as performed by George Guidall – was your favorite?

Guidall can do no wrong, in my opinion...each character is excellent!!!!!

    Any additional comments?

... however, looking forward to next book (curious about Alan’s new position and father of twins!!??)

Before he was considered a CIA superagent, before he was thought of as a terrorists worst nightmare, and before he was both loathed and admired by the politicians on Capitol Hill, Mitch Rapp was a gifted college athlete without a care in the world . . . and then tragedy struck.

Really now, what are these people reading??
Nice to hear all about Rapp???s indoctrinations but only for a chapter or two-- not the entire novel! This was a serious disappointment to me, almost didn???t finish it???so predictable, pass?? and extremely boring. Not really sure what to expect since Rapp has endured just about everything expected of a ???special ops??? action character. I guess I???m still upset about Flynn???s disposal of Mitch???s wife and tired of the same old politico scenario concerning rendition and internal government power plays. Perhaps Flynn doesn???t know where to go next with his aging and battle-worn hero. How many more terrorists??? plots and hostage rescue missions are there??

What does Cain, history's greatest villain, have to do with Superman, the world's greatest hero? And what do two murders, committed thousands of years apart, have in common? This is the mystery at the heart of Brad Meltzer's riveting and utterly intriguing new thriller.

Gave one star review for the excellent performance by Scott Brick...
Wish I could get my money back for this one!!??
