I really wanted to love this book, and I eagerly anticipated it. But, for me, it fell a little short. I felt like I didn't have enough time to get to get to know the main characters as a couple. There was a lot of info on the town in general, and the folks in it, which I love, but I didn't feel invested in the couple.
The plot was excellent, and kept me interested, won't say too much there as it will spoil the story.. I am looking forward to the next book, and hope there is a little more of the deputy sheriff and Gina together and how they bring their families together.
I was hoping this would be more in the line of her original Virgin River series, I really felt Jack and Mel, I was so engrossed. This wasn't as good, and that is a shame for a series opener. Having said all that, i would definitely buy more of Carr's books.
Lastly Therese Plummer was again outstanding, she is one of the best narrators I have had the pleasure of listening to.
I have liked the previous novels from this author, however I just couldn't connect with this one. I wasn't invested in the characters, and couldn't see their apparent closeness!!! The storyline made me cringe, and I felt no real romance while the HEA was in an unhealthy relationship with a pig. The hero tried to make her see that he would help?? Didn't finish the audiobook, as I could see no good coming from the story. I think the author tried too hard to get a point across with this one, but failed in the execution.
This book was really intense. Not a book you can listen to and also have your mind half on other things. Loved how the author made Remy testosterone charged, and not half metro as some authors tend to fall into. The story flowed really well, but I was disappointed with the end a little. I don't believe Evans stayed true to Brooke's character, won't say more then that as I'd hate to spoil it for someone. Looking forward to Book 2.
I liked this audiobook, however the book description was a little misleading. I expected more of a love story between Mac and Gina, along with how they worked their families into a whole. This was not the case.
This story is a continuation of Cooper and Sarah's romance and their issues, which might i say was great and excellent to listen to. I felt a lot more invested in them in this story. Having listened to the first in the series I now understand that it is going to be about the community of Thunder Point more than the romance of individual characters.
Carr also brought teen love and heartache into this story. I actually cried for Ashley!!! I have children so for this to happen to one would be devastating. I really think Carr nailed it, the emotions, the out of control feelings of an adolescent.
I have to add that if you are new to the Thunder Point series?, listen to The Wanderer (book 1) first as you will have a better understanding of the community and what Robyn Carr is trying to achieve in her novels.
Lastly, and I know I always say this, but Therese Plummer is my favourite narrator, she is fantastic for this series and anything of hers I have listened to I have thought a better book due to her.
I found this book terrible, the narration horrid and I didn't even finish listening it was that bad. Total waist of money.
I have to agree with the other reviewers, the narration is very ordinary. I am a Nora Roberts fan, but this one was not her best. I hope that the following books are narrated by someone else and have a little more substance to the story.
Thought this book to be really entertaining. I have all Julia Quinn and loved them all. She is witty and made me laugh quite a bit.
