What made the experience of listening to Midnight Pleasures with a Scoundrel the most enjoyable?

I thought this series was very interestingly based on the cast of Oliver! How clever to give it a subtle sense of that story.

Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen and Antony Ferguson ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Susan Erickson did a good job on the narration.

    Any additional comments?

I can't wait to get the next Lorraine Heath audio book. What a great way to take a walk or work in the yard, and still get to hear a great story!

This story could have been excellent, but the narration was not good. I had some trouble telling if the speaker was a male or female. I had to wait to get the context to figure out who was talking. Too bad, because the story was good and I would have enjoyed it a lot more with a different reader.

What was most disappointing about Lorraine Heath’s story?

I am a big fan of Lorraine Heath, and have listened to many of her books, but honestly the narration was SO BAD that I didn't get past chapter 2. What a letdown. I may buy the paper copy and read the story, but I was disappointed in the audio version of her book.

Instead of treasures, though, she finds the owner, Lady Beatrice Davenham, bedridden and neglected. Appalled, Abby rousts Lady Beatrice's predatory servants and-with Lady Beatrice's eager cooperation-the four young ladies become her "nieces," neatly eliminating the threat of disaster for all concerned!

The story is a little far-fetched, and the hero was a little slow figuring out how he felt, but it's worth the listen. I've read some of Anne Gracie's other novels, and this doesn't measure up to those. The narration was excellent. I am going to go find another Alison Larkin narrated book!

It's 1825 in London, and the two curvaceous and blonde 23-year-old Cynster twins, Amanda and Ameliaare, are desperate to get married. All they need are two fine, strapping gentlemen - preferably with large purses.

So what do these two lusty young ladies do?They make a visit to the local gaming halls, of course!

I like this book, but didn't love it. I'd rather a Lorraine Heath book in this same genre. I am a fan of Anne Flosnik and always listen if she's the narrator. She did a great job as always. Still, I'd recommend it.

In the resplendence of William the Conqueror's London court, the lovely Saxon captive, Nicholaa was forced to choose a husband from the assembled Norman nobles. She chose Royce, a baron warrior whose fierce demeanor could not conceal his chivalrous and tender heart. Resourceful, rebellious and utterly naive, Nicholaa vowed to bend Royce to her will, despite the whirlwind of feelings he aroused in her.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Prize?

I loved when the heroine got to choose her groom.

Anne Flosnik did a great job on the narration, and as soon as I finish up the last few chapters, I'm going to get another Julie Garwood book to enjoy. It's been years since I first read this, but enjoyed it today as much as I did then - maybe even more with Anne Flosnik's narration.!

They call him the Devil Earl - a scoundrel and accused murderer who grew up on the violent London streets. A proper young lady risks more than her reputation when consorting with the roguishly handsome Lucian Langdon, but Lady Catherine Mabry believes she has no choice. To protect those she loves, she would do anything-even strike a bargain with the devil himself. Lucian desires respectability and a wife above all else, but the woman of his choosing lacks the social graces to be accepted by the aristocracy.

What did you love best about In Bed with the Devil?

This was such a good story. The main character Lucien was flawed, yet so caring, fearless, and proves to be a good man despite his upbringing and his troubled past. The heroine Catherine was brave and willing to take on gossip and risk ruination of her reputation in order to protect her friend, asking Lucien for his help and accepting her attraction and feelings for the "devil earl". I loved Catherine's spunk and frankness in her conversations with Lucien.

Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen and Antony Ferguson ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my first listen to Susan Erickson and Antony Ferguson. I wasn't wild about Susan's voice in the beginning - I thought her male voice was hard to distinguish from her female voice. But, as the story continued, I grew accustomed to it, and she was good in every other way. Antony's voice was only used in very brief moments to recollect the past in Lucien's background - very minimal contribution.

I am now a fan of Lorraine Heath, and am going to read more of her novels!

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I am a fan of Jane Austen novels, and saw several versions of Pride and Prejudice, including the BBC 6-hour series which I thought was outstanding. This book did a good job of telling more of Mr. Darcy's story in an alternate circumstance, but much of the book was just a regurgitation of the original work. I thought that if Darcy and Elizabeth's story changed, then some of the other story line should change as well. I was disappointed.

    Any additional comments?

The narrator was slightly better than fair. T he story was good, although not much new informaiton from the original work. So, if you've seen or read the original, there is very little new in this version. If I had to do it again I wouldn't give this a listen. However, if you've never read or seen the original, this story would be good. Not as it was originally written, but still good.

    Hard to top the original.
