Long ago, a human astrophysicist, Inigo, began dreaming scenes from the life of a remarkable human being named Edeard, who lived within the Void, a self-contained microuniverse at the heart of the galaxy. There, under the beneficent gaze of mysterious godlike entities, humans possessed uncanny psychic abilities, and Edeard's were the strongest of all. Equally strong was his determination to bring justice and freedom to a world terrorized by criminal violence and corruption.

I thought the first book was interesting and pretty good, but this one is excellent. The characters are quite compelling and the story takes great direction. By the end you can't wait to get into the 3rd and see what happens.

If you've already listened to the last two books you already know you want to listen to this one. You definitely won't be disappointed.

If you are considering this book but have not listed to Lies, or Red Skies first, go start with Lies and you will not be disappointed either. These books are a joyride of excitement, humor, twists, turns and incredible characters. They are worth every minute of the listen.

For anyone on the fence, get Lies first then read this one. You won't be disappointed.

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

I've read a lot of reviews on this and had it in my wish list for quite a while. I went into it expecting a nice thriller/mystery type story and ended up with a horror story.

All in all it was pretty good. There was a lot of the SciFi parts that were a stretch and most of the characters were pretty typical. It's funny that the use Scooby Doo characters as references since the author keeps his characters lined out just about like a cartoon.

It was an entertaining listen and worth your time for a unique and entertaining story. Don't expect to get your mind blown, but you can expect to be entertained.

Kyle Riggs is snatched by an alien spacecraft sometime after midnight. The ship is testing everyone it catches and murdering the weak. The good news is that Kyle keeps passing tests and staying alive. The bad news is the aliens who sent this ship are the nicest ones out there.

I've seen this series and reviews of it floating around for while now. I have been tempted to listen before but always decided against it.

I finally took the plunge and was pleasantly surprised. The story was solid even though the characters were predictable and pretty shallow. The action was excellent and I was well entertained the whole time.

This is a lot like watching a SciFi war movie, and was worth the time. I think I'll pick up the other books to listen to when I want something fun to listen to.

In that first volume, we were introduced to the remarkable world of Roshar, a world both alien and magical, where gigantic hurricane-like storms scour the surface every few days and life has adapted accordingly. Roshar is shared by humans and the enigmatic, humanoid Parshendi, with whom they are at war.

Be sure to read the first book first. Then buckle in and enjoy the ride. This book moves a lot quicker than the first is a real joy to experience. That's right, not listen to or read, but it's a book that you experience.

There is quite a bit of back story and history building slipped into the rest of the story that I'm sure will all pull together in later books, so keep an open mind through those parts and just absorb it for future use.

This is well worth the money and time to enjoy.

Dark fantasy goes hardboiled in Book II of the hard-hitting Grimnoir Chronicles by the New York Times best-selling creator of Monster Hunter International. The Grimnoir Society’s mission is to protect people with magic, and they’ve done so—successfully and in secret—since the mysterious arrival of the Power in the 1850s, but when a magical assassin makes an attempt on the life of President Franklin Roosevelt, the crime is pinned on the Grimnoir.

Wow. The first book was alright. Entertaining and all but just alright. This one was fantastic. The characters take on a lot more life and the plot deepens a lot in the second installment.

The story zips along as fast a Faye can travel and the action never stops for long. If you just thought the last book was OK like me, definitely move on to this one, you won't be disappointed.

Only a handful of people in the world know that mankind's magic comes from a living creature, and it is a refugee from another universe. The Power showed up here in the 1850s because it was running from something. Now it is 1933, and the Power's hiding place has been discovered by a killer. It is a predator that eats magic and leaves destroyed worlds in its wake. Earth is next. Former private eye Jake Sullivan knows the score. The problem is, hardly anyone believes him.

This was a great thrilling conclusion to the trilogy. By this point the characters are well formed and a real connection has been formed to them. While it may seem like the story is going to have a predictable ending there are still some really good twists and turns to keep it interesting.

If you have already read the first 2 you are already going to listen to this as well so you don't need me to recommend it.

"My name is Kvothe. I have stolen princesses back from sleeping barrow kings. I burned down the town of Trebon. I have spent the night with Felurian and left with both my sanity and my life. I was expelled from the University at a younger age than most people are allowed in. I tread paths by moonlight that others fear to speak of during day. I have talked to Gods, loved women, and written songs that make the minstrels weep...."

This story is so good I had a hard time turning it off to sleep. The story and characters are so engaging that my thoughts are being Narrated in my head as if Kvoth is telling them to me. This is truly a well told story.

Be sure to listen to the Day 1 before starting this one and then be prepared to wait impatiently for Day 3. This is a phenomenal continuation of the first book and it's clean enough for the whole family to enjoy.

Jake Sullivan is a licensed private eye with a seriously hardboiled attitude. He also possesses raw magical talent and the ability to make objects in his vicinity light as a feather or as heavy as depleted uranium, all with a magical thought. It's no wonder the G-men turn to Jake when they need someoneto go after a suspected killer who has been knocking off banks in a magic-enhanced crime spree.

I really enjoyed this story. It isn't a heavy or deep story and the characters are pretty stereotypical. However, it is really well written and the story takes you on a fun and wild ride. Some reviewers haven't liked the narration, but I really enjoyed it. The voices fit the time, place and character of the people. I think it was really well done.

If you want something to listen too that is really enjoyable and fun to listen to, then this is a great choice. I think I'll listen to the next two in the series, but probably not right away.

I recommend this book 100%. The characters are well developed and believable. The story is also really engaging and is told in a way that keeps you deeply involved. I found it hard to stop listening at night. The story is set up to be an epic story, but coming from Kvoth's point of view it is still kept pretty simple and straight forward.

    Well worth your time.
