"Interesting premise"
I liked the premise and the narrator. The ending was very weak and rather poorly thought out.
"Saccharine romance thinly disguised as Vampire"
As a bodice ripper, this might be an okay book. As an interesting story line, it still might be just fine (witches and vampires do all sorts of interesting things). As a total story, it is horrible. The main characters are so inconsistent that they are unbelievable in terms of their actions. The main character (Dianna) is so dependent on her "man" that it is impossible to identify with her. Her man (the vampire) is so protective and controlling that even stereotyped hard core Republicans would be alarmed. The narrator is the only thing that saves this book. She is good, but she only had so much to work with.
"Tense and tightly written"
I liked the whole plot and enjoyed the reading. I thought the ending was a little too far fetched to be believed, but...
"Great Story"
Burke has his own morality but he is clear about it and always finds a way to follow his beliefs. He is tough without being macho. It is a great series.
"Good Story--Bad Reader"
I like the story. As a frequent listener to audio books I am generally accepting of different readers. However, in this instance I found the reader very tedious. He speaks in mostly a monotone and his accents are really very trite and unappealing.
I have the paperback and at about page 100, I switched to the book. The story is very good and I am enjoying it a lot.
"Well read-poorly written"
A poor plot and lousy character development mark this novel. Generally, I have liked the author, but admit this is the first time I have listened and it is the "president agent" novel I have read. The story was well read, but the reading could not save the story.
"Read well-poor story line"
The story maintains interest mostly because the reader is so good. The story line is mostly SciFi with some magical thinking.
I could not identify nor empathasize with any of the characters the story line was not suspenseful nor satisfyingly complex.
