  • Billy the Kid: The Endless Ride

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 5 mins)
    • By Michael Wallis
    • Narrated By Todd McLaren
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Award-winning historian Michael Wallis has spent several years re-creating the rich, anecdotal saga of Billy the Kid (1859-1881), a deeply mythologized young man who became a legend in his own time and yet remains an enigma to this day. With the Gilded Age in full swing and the Industrial Revolution reshaping the American landscape, "the Kid", who was gunned down by Sheriff Pat Garrett in the New Mexico Territory at the age of 21, became a new breed of celebrity outlaw.

    Michael says: "Disappointing"
    "I hardly knew ye"

I loved this book a must read for every wild west and Billy buff out there..He sends you past the myths to the man or rather the kid. This book tells The Kids whole story not just the Lincoln County War. All the information is up to date plus it was well read.

  • America's Great Depression

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 7 mins)
    • By Murray N. Rothbard
    • Narrated By Tom Weiner

The Great Depression was not a crisis for capitalism but merely an example of the downturn part of the business cycle, which was generated by government intervention in the economy. Had this book appeared in the 1940s, it might have spared the world much grief. Even so, its appearance in 1963 meant that free-market advocates had their first full-scale treatment of this crucial subject.

Damon says: "required reading- hard to capture over audio"
    "Witch hunt"

If you supported Ron Paul then this is the book for you otherwise skip this one and read (The Global Impact of the Great Depression, 1929-1939) it is A far better book and does not seek to make the U.S. Government out to be the Great Satan.

  • The Worst Hard Time: The Untold Story of Those Who Survived the Great American Dust Bowl

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 47 mins)
    • By Timothy Egan
    • Narrated By Patrick Lawlor, Ken Burns
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

The dust storms that terrorized America's High Plains in the darkest years of the Depression were like nothing ever seen before or since, and the stories of the people that held on have never been fully told. Laurie says: "more than grapes of wrath"
    "A wonderful Book"

  • The End of Faith

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 15 mins)
    • By Sam Harris
    • Narrated By Brian Emerson
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Here is an impassioned plea for reason in a world divided by faith. This important and timely work delivers a startling analysis of the clash of faith and reason in today's world. Harris offers a vivid historical tour of mankind's willingness to suspend reason in favor of religious beliefs, even when those beliefs are used to justify harmful behavior and sometimes heinous crimes.

William says: "Good book, bad narrator"
    "3rd place"

I enjoyed this book very much but I have to say I liked The god Delusion and God is not great much more...I guess it really depends on what style you like more...Over all I think it makes a good addition to any library and I would highly recommend it.

  • The God Delusion

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 52 mins)
    • By Richard Dawkins
    • Narrated By Richard Dawkins, Lalla Ward
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Discover magazine recently called Richard Dawkins "Darwin's Rottweiler" for his fierce and effective defense of evolution. Prospect magazine voted him among the top three public intellectuals in the world (along with Umberto Eco and Noam Chomsky). Now Dawkins turns his considerable intellect on religion, denouncing its faulty logic and the suffering it causes.

    Rick Just says: "Dangerous Religion"
    "God Bless Richard Dawkins"

I had to say that, I would buy this book for everybody in the U.S. If I thought they would read it. I was already an Atheist when I read this book and I suspect that most of you who will read this are as well. Thats great you will love this book its a masterpeice. Just promise to give it to a Christian when your done.

  • Don't Know Much About the Civil War

    • ABRIDGED (5 hrs and 48 mins)
    • By Kenneth C. Davis
    • Narrated By Kenneth C. Davis

Best selling author Kenneth C. Davis sheds light on the most riveting details about America's greatest conflict in this fascinating program, providing listeners with everything they "need to know" about the Civil War.

Daniel says: "Great Book for the Civil War Buff"
    "Every breath you take"

I could hear every breath you take for gods sake ..Very annoying after every sentence the narrator took a deep breath into the mirco-phone after I noticed it I heard nothing else..Esp if wearing headphones..Other than that the information was given a way that Only Kenneth C. Davis can (Fun.)
