"Abridged too far"
Having read the actual book, the abridged version seems to have left out a considerable amount of story lines that were needed in my opinion to be left in.
Yes, as long as it was not an abridged reading
None really stand out above any other
It was Schindler's List which is a fantastic story in itself.
This would have been a great listen unabridged
"A very good listen"
Yes, the whole series is done very well and the characters are described in great detail, you really get to know them
Hamich, as he is hard and rough on the exterior but has a soft spot inside and can take it when it's dished out to him.
none othr than the first hunger games, similar
The meeting in her room with president Snow.....she should have ripped his throat out right then and there
"Reading a book......poorly"
The story was okay, I listened to the end
The show down with the group from Ohio
Almost anyone, however Mr. Allen's voice is good so keep working on the presentation
I could see the premise being a movie/series as we have some similar shows out there already
Mr. Allen, Work on performing not just reading, don't read lines twice and keep your recording volume consistent, also I don't think that you needed to repeat the book title at every chapter change
"Copy and paste a thon"
This was a book that seemingly used more repetitive story lines (line by line and word for word) from Patriots and Survivors than its own new material, The reading performance was okay if you overlook the mispronouncing of the words.
This was in my opinion a terrible job by Mr. Rawles
Even if this is a stand alone book, the author has to realize that it is going to be read (or listened to) by readers (or listeners) of his previous books.
Yes, but I won't after that if it is as poorly done as this book is
I would have stuck with Dick Hill, although his voice is a little annoying, he seems to mispronounce fewer words and I guess I just got used to him on the first three titles I listened to.
I would have removed almost the entire narrative of the Leyton's as they nearly told their entire story during the debriefing at Todd Grey's house in Patriots.
I would lessen the descriptions of items...no one cares about this frequency or that frequency on a radio transmitter or model numbers for certain pieces of gear.
Nor do we need the street directions through TelAviv Israel that takes us to the beach??
I believe this to be an attempt by Mr. Rawles to get out another book out in a hurry, it's sad too, I liked the his first two books on this story line.
"Come on....It's Treasure Island and its unabridged"
I have already and will listen to Treasure Island again, multiple times it is the type of story that I do not grow tired of.
Pick a classic, any classic, But as far as sea tales go it is on it's own.
I actually chose this particular version over others because Dick Hill was the performer, I have listened to him in several other books and really enjoy his style.
It is a good listen, not an emotional book however
Keep up the good work!
"Is it a story or a how to book..........you decide"
Definitely I already have
I don't know about the edge of my seat, but it was a very good listen.
It was adequate, thats about it
No
This is a good piece of fiction based upon reality. It needs to be heeded and acted upon to insure it does not actually happen.
Maybe a bit too much detail in some areas.
"Atlas Shrugged...what else is there to say?"
Yes, One of the best books out there, I would actually recommend it in the audio format.
It is an eye opener that parallels current society but was written 50+ years ago........I guess some things never change.
None really compare that I have read
Nothing stands out, but it has been several months since I listened to it the last time.
Why John Galt of course, just to talk about it all
This book starts a bit slow which I believe makes it hard to read in the printed version..................long live Audible.
"Welcome to WROL...........God save us"
I have not read the printed version therefore I can not compare the two, however it is much easier for me to listen to a book than to take the time to sit down and read it.
The death of the main character's 12 year old daughter due to complications from diabetes was very hard to listen to being that I am a father.
None really stand out above the others, all were done very well, the characteizations transformed the reading into a theater of the mind.
WELL DONE Mr. Barrett !
yes, but please do not ruin it through trying to have an abridged copy
This is a fantastic book although the subject matter is disturbing, hopefully it will open up peoples eyes to the possibilities of what could happen to a society that is too reliant upon technology and that has gotten away from the basics.
