I enjoyed most of the books in this series. They entertained me and made me laugh. But this one did not make me laugh. The characters are becoming to predictable, and the dialogue is always the same. This book focuses entirely too much on unpleasant bodily functions; and seriously, a little of that goes a long way. It isn't cute anymore.
Good story. Good level of suspense through the story. I like the style of telling story from different perspectives and from different time frames.
the accent and attitudes
Not extreme - just enjoyed it and did not want it to end.
I am only 1/3 of the way through, and it is pretty interesting, but I am not much of a war story reader, and so far this book is only about a war story. This was not specified in the overview of the book, and I would not have ordered it if it had been.
I could not wait to finish this book. I felt it was way too full of rants and repitition. I can see that the story would be interesting to people, but there was way too much 'droning' and too little of what was interesting and compelling about the story and characters. I thought the narration was very good, however!
I really enjoyed this book. Granted, I don't typically read or listen to science fiction / fantasy type of books , yet I found the characters compelling and the story line interesting and fun. It may well not be an 'original', but what is at this point? From the perspective of enjoying a story and it's characters, I think this book is worth reading.
After listening to Lucia, Lucia and Big Stone Gap I was very excited about listening to this book. Unfortunately I never felt connected to the main character, or any of the characters for that matter. The story was interesting but not really very amusing. I was disappointed after the compelling / amusing characters in her other books.
The story was fun , the characters loveable, and the narrator was fabulous.
The narrator had a great voice, but I think you have to be a Maeve Binchy fan to love this book.
