"Disappointed"
I listened to this story just before Christmas, so it was actually timely. However, I was not impressed with the story line. It was a gross departure from James Patterson's other work. Totally implausible and I finished it only out of curiosity...it did not get better, just worse. I hope that I do not waste my time on anything else so strange and farfetched.
"Expected something different"
As always, John Grisham delivers more than the story. We learn about small town Mississippi in marvelous detail as the story unfolds. I found it rather anticlimactic, however. Throughout, I was waiting for something suspenseful to occur, but it didn't. It was a nice story, told well and read exceptionally well by Michael Beck. The technical plots and sub-plots were missing in this one, which took me by surpise.
"Terrific"
I love James Patterson, and this book did not disappoint. I hope he finds time to add another books to this series as with the Alex Cross stories. I was also VERY impressed with the reader of this book, but sadly disappointed with the reader of the 2nd. Too bad the 2nd was not read by Carolyn McCormick! I can't wait for more of this series!
