Escape from her macabre marriage is not as easy as fleeing to a new city, picking a new name, finding a new job, and lucking out with a new man. Not with a husband like Norman...

    "A good story"
    Overall

This is a good solid story and I liked Stephen King and Blair Browns narration. (I didn't find the music a distraction as others have posted, which almost stopped me from downloading) I think the story was a good one until the "fantasy" parts started. Also when I thought the book was coming to an end, it wasn't and went on and on so that I wished it would just end. Overall it was a good listen.

This book is up there with some of the best books I have read or listened to. If I wasn't listening to the book I was thinking about it. I downloaded this book because of the reviews that listeners gave it and I was not dissappointed. I would highly recommend this book. I was sad when the journey ended and it was over.

On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

I loved this book. The narrator did a fantastic job bringing the characters alive. The story was good and was very thought provoking. The only thing this book was missing was the real motivation to save JFK, and why not only one man, but two would spend over 4 years of their lives to accomplish the task. Maybe I am too young to appreciate JFK? I still loved the book.

The reason I picked this book is because Jenna Lamia is one of the narrators and again she has done an awesome job. She really amazes me with her range of voices for characters. As far as the book, I almost didn't finish it after the first hour listening. It just wasn't holding my interest. There is too much extra information that isn't needed for the story to flow. All in all I did listen to the whole book and found the story something to think about after it was over but the story is just okay.

Set in Appalachia in the years before World War II, Velva Jean Learns to Drive is a poignant story of a spirited young girl growing up in the gold-mining and moonshining South. Before she dies, Velva Jean's mother urges her to "live out there in the great wide world." Velva Jean dreams of becoming a big-time singer in Nashville until she falls in love with Harley Bright, a handsome juvenile delinquent turned revival preacher.

This book was a great listen. The only reason I downloaded it was because it was narrated by Jenna Lamia and every book she has narrated I have really enjoyed. She is a great story teller. So this book was a surprise, I enjoyed it that much. Velva Jean tells her story and you fall in love with her naive, honesty. I will proably listen to this one again.

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

This book was truly entertaining. The characters tell there stories each with there own voice and you fall into there world. The author keeps you laughing through the horrors and tender moments of the early 1960's in a world where whites and blacks struggle to coexist in Mississippi. I loved this book.......

Laugh-out-loud funny and deeply touching, Beth Hoffman's sparkling debut is, as Kristin Hannah says, "packed full of Southern charm, strong women, wacky humor, and good old-fashioned heart." It is a novel that explores the indomitable strengths of female friendship and gives us the story of a young girl who loses one mother and finds many others.

"I believe there is another man inside every man, a stranger...." writes Wilfred Leland James in the early pages of the riveting confession that makes up "1922", the first in this pitch-black quartet of mesmerizing tales from Stephen King. For James, that stranger is awakened when his wife, Arlette, proposes selling off the family homestead and moving to Omaha, setting in motion a gruesome train of murder and madness.

I loved this book. I thought the narraters did a great job telling these tales. I have listened to a few books and I was really impressed with how they told their stories. I had a hard time turning this book off.
