I'm sure there are some people that appreciate this for being a well thought out, sophisticated storyline. However I just found it dreadfully boring - I kept listening in the hope it would redeem itself but it didn't.
I listened to this book based on the author - his book 14 was really good - I didn't know quite how he would make this work but he did and it's a great story and very we'll read! Nice job team.
The Name of the wind and Wise mans fear are simply my favourite Audiobooks. The story is great and I just need to find out what is happening next. Hurry up with the next one. Please. Please please.
I listened to this book basically non-stop! If you enjoyed book 1 then you'll love this too.
This is a rich world full of unique and interesting characters. It has an "I can't stop listening" storyline and keeps good pace throughout. I had just finished the Game of Thrones series and was looking to fill the gap in my life that had created - I'm almost close to saying this was better!
The narration of this book was excellent - perhaps one of the best I've heard (and I've heard a few now!) The voices of the different characters were all very unique and consistent which is impressive.
Narration was poor - which is a shame as the I thought the first 3 were top notch.
No - this was an anomaly - part 5 got things back on track
The accents differed from the previous 3 books. Quality was'nt as good.
Sam Watkins has kindly given us insight into the thoughts and experience of a Confederate soldier. I can't imagine how he managed to survive the hardships, deprivations, battles and defeat!
I found this a really worthwhile book to listen to and was even more fascinating towards the end. The style of writing is very different from anything else I'm used to. The narration could be better tho!
I loved every minute of each of the three volumes of Shelby Foote's masterpiece. It was a deeply facinating journey through those tumultous times and events. I felt this audiobook bought to life the great charachters and personalities that defined the Civil War. Grover Gardners reading of this was outstanding and suited perfectly to the subject.
This is an 'I can't turn it off' audiobook! Very well read.
Hathcock was certainly someone who was uniquely suited to being a sniper. He was also passionate about his profession and helped set the standard for others.
I thought the highlight of the book was gripping combat action as the Marines took and retook Matterhorn . The charachters in this book were rich and interesting, I enjoyed sharing in their hardships and victories. I think the author did a great job in illustrating the issues and politics of the Vietnam war with a well crafted story.
