"The book out-shines the video"
If you are like me, you've seen the video with the same title. If you have, you're in for a treat if you purchase this audible version. Michael Pollan's humor, knowledge, and ability to spin informative narrative makes science fun again.
"Audio Book Needs a PDF cookbook attachment"
Excellent information that is applicable for any level of physiological understanding; the author does not dummy down information, but makes it accessible.
"More terrifying than I thought. . ."
This is a must listen! I grew up reading this story, viewing Hollywood's interpretation, and now, taking a chance, purchased the audible copy. Wow! What an amazing production. Honestly, at 2:00 a.m., listening to the narrative, with all the lights out--I felt terror--the shear terror of this timeless story.
"Anything Barbara Rosenblat reads is a WINNER!"
Elizabeth Peters has a shot-in the funny bone sense of humor--and her one-liners are unique.
The relationships between the characters, the twists and turns of the plot, and the tiger-like attitude of Vicky Bliss.
Everything! Barbara's ability to establish personalities and people using believable voices is amazing!
Start with the 6th book in the series (The Laughter of Dead Kings)--then go to the 1st--through the 5th--ending with the 6th again. ENJOY!
"You don't have to be a runner to read this. . ."
Courage. Endurance. Encouragement.
Wow. I don't think anything else comes close.
His transparency. His honesty.
I laughed. I cried. I cringed. I sat silent, at times.
I tackled some tough stuff in my life after listening to this book.I love Matt's motto. . .No longer will I wish. . .No longer will I want. . .from now on. . .I will.
"Do not expect it to be like the movie"
Chilling. British. Dark.
Yes, in that I wanted to know just how far over the edge characters were willing to go before they realized they were playing with fire.
Don't expect this to be like the movie. However, listen to this BEFORE you see the movie, as nuances are missing in the current flick that you will gain in the audiobook.
"Stories Yes. Advice No."
The stories are great.
The listener is misled by the title--not much advice is given.
If you want an audiobook about experiences, this would be the one. But, if you like me, would like practical advice from other runners--this is not the book.
"Read the book in-print instead"
I love Kathy Reichs and the way she weaves a story together.
Linda's performance of this sounded like she disliked the story altogether.
I had to quit listening and purchase the book in print.
"A must read!"
This book you cannot put down, so make sure you have an afternoon to read it from cover to cover.
