In California, two children die of a disease thought to be nonexistent in the United States. Hours later, thoroughbreds at the Churchill Downs are dying of an unidentified virus. Called in to shed light on these enigmas, virologist Jack Bryne discovers that the two events are not only connected, they are deliberate acts of bioterrorism. Moreover, the deaths bear uncanny similarities to the Fifth and Sixth Plagues described in Exodus.

Would you try another book from John Marr and John Baldwin and/or Adams Morgan?

    No

What was most disappointing about John Marr and John Baldwin ’s story?

    The disgusting graphicly descriptive detail.

    Any additional comments?

The story idea was interesting, and this could have been a good book if the focus had been on the story and not on seeing how badly they could gross out the listener. If you don't have a strong stomach listen to this with your hand on the fast forward button.

A fascinating book with a very abrupt and unsatisfying ending. Author information and reviews on the main Amazon site indicate that this is the first book of either a pair or a series. Even though it just stops, it held my interest through both a first listen and a second - which is why it didn't end up with one star.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Leaving out the music and sound effects! Different narrator.

    Any additional comments?

The loud music and sound effects almost drown out a not very good narration. The sound effects make this a bad choice for listening through earbuds.

After Will Harper, a bomb-squad officer for the NYPD, is injured in the field, he retires early. But when his former partner is blown up, along with a paranoid best-selling author and his Florida estate, Harper's idle days are over. Suddenly Harper is tracking a serial killer who is as expert in explosives as any terrorist, and not too shy about selecting targets at the center of the celebrity spotlight.

What disappointed you about Final Seconds?

The audio production is absolutely awful!

    Any additional comments?

It's a real shame when you have a good story and good narration ruined by terrible production - underlying background noise and conversation, sudden sound quality changes, sections of irritatingly bad sound quality.
