A successful lawyer and loving mother, Nina Bloom would do anything to protect the life she's built in New York - including lying to everyone, even her daughter, about her past. But when an innocent man is framed for murder, she knows that she can't let him pay for the real killer's crimes.

Everytime I thought this book would end, it got going in a different direction. I walk around the block (3 miles) and listen to my audio books and I'm constantly entertained and that's all I'm really looking for to keep me walking. I'd never listened to James Patterson and really enjoyed this book and several Alex Cross books too. Keep them coming.

I'm truly enjoying Jim Patterson's books. I'm not the greatest of scholors and haven't read many of the masters writings, but I can tell you that I've found James Patterson's stories compelling and creative. They make my walk around the block something I look forward to everyday.

One question, a split-second decision, and Brian Darby lies dead on the kitchen floor. His wife, state police trooper Tessa Leoni, claims to have shot him in self-defense, and bears the bruises to back up her tale. For veteran detective D. D. Warren it should be an open-and-shut case. But where is their six-year-old daughter? As the homicide investigation ratchets into a frantic statewide search for a missing child, D. D. Warren must partner with former lover Bobby Dodge to break through the blue wall of police brotherhood, seeking to understand the inner workings of a trooper’s mind while also unearthing family secrets.

This book is wonderful. So much not said until the right moment. When you think it's over, it's just starting. Amazingly entertaining. A must listen to or read.

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

I've been listening to audible books for some time now and will state empathically that this is the best story and the most heart wrenching narration by each of the women that I've ever heard. I'd recommend this book, either audible or in book form for every junior high school aged child to read.
