Fabulously accurate portrayal of Miami's underbelly. Wolfe captures all the nuances of this "welding pot" metropolis. Rich characters. Good pacing. And satisfying ending. Like fine wine, Wolfe betters with age.
Lots of superb reviews have been written on this book. I can't hope to add to them. As a listener to over 500 titles this is one of my all time favorites. The characters and their development keeps the intrigue and momentum until the last word. Burke's Wayfaring Stranger is in my top 10 audio books of all time.
Great characters. Good action. It's one of my King favorites. I hope to listen to more along this line by King. Superb.
From the first gripping chapter to the final words, this is Sanford at his best. Fast paced. Lucas Davenport has never been so on his game.
Great narration, just the right mixture of voices, emotion and pacing.
An interesting story, a bit laborious at times. Mostly it is a story of one man's dogged determination of personal discovery. Is Gary Stewarts' father really the Zodiac killer? Maybe.
Few authors ought to read their own books, with few notable exceptions, and honestly in the beginning Gary's reading annoying. But after awhile Gary's reading grew on me.
This is a deeply personal story and he conveys as much emotion with tone as does the words. By the end, I rather liked the addition.
I'm a huge Twain fan, but not of this audio "book". This is a compilation of Mark Twain's writings put together by a bunch of editors. Purchased on special for $1.99 I feel ripped off.
Michael Lewis makes complex not just understandable but compelling. Flash Boys is another in a long line of books that teach while being thoroughly entertaining. Five stars all around.
This is fun story with plenty of action. Not fabulous writing, but what it lacks in style it is more than makes up in passion. I've not seen the movie, but now plan to.
Good book given more character because it is read by the author. Gates passion comes through not just in the words but in the pitch, tone and speed with which he reads certain passages. I'm not always a fan of authors reading their own works, but this one works. Well done.
Wonderful writing. Unbreathably articulate. Some of the best delineation of God, man and that chasm. I only wish I had yet to listen so I could begin again.
