Another riveting story by a master story teller. This is sit in your drive-way good. The best Grisham? I don't know. But wonderfully fun, fast paced with a satisfying conclusion. Five Huzzahs.
This is fun story with plenty of action. Not fabulous writing, but what it lacks in style it is more than makes up in passion. I've not seen the movie, but now plan to.
Good book given more character because it is read by the author. Gates passion comes through not just in the words but in the pitch, tone and speed with which he reads certain passages. I'm not always a fan of authors reading their own works, but this one works. Well done.
Wonderful writing. Unbreathably articulate. Some of the best delineation of God, man and that chasm. I only wish I had yet to listen so I could begin again.
Fabulously accurate portrayal of Miami's underbelly. Wolfe captures all the nuances of this "welding pot" metropolis. Rich characters. Good pacing. And satisfying ending. Like fine wine, Wolfe betters with age.
However Wilson is a fabulous reader. Engaging. Good character differentiation. Superb pacing. Had he had decent prose it would have been a perfect listen.
Ninety percent of the book is A+. Solid Clancy. At the end, the end he pulls Wolfe "Man in Full" style plot twist. What?! Other than that... Great book.
This is my fifth or sixth "Special Forces" type book. Most I've liked. This was slow. Maybe too many writers (I count four, including bits from his wife). Lack of compelling details. I'm sure Kyle was a good soldier but as for book writing, hopefully there will be professional writer that will do justice to his story. Standing in the kitchen doesn't make one a chef.
Solid sparse writing. Fast moving plot. This is my favorite Connelly book with Harry Bosch. One of the best books in this genre I've listened to in a very long time. Cariou's performance is good, too. Five stars all around.
An okay story that goes on and on and on. Brilliant in it's subtlety. Occasional bursts of greatness. For me, the perfect listen for a cross country car ride.
