Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten. Insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw, The Fault in Our Stars is award-winning-author John Green’s most ambitious and heartbreaking work yet, brilliantly exploring the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.

Touching, real characters that will stay with you long after you are done. Young Adult lit has come a long way and this is a great example of a novel that can and should appeal to adult readers. Beautifully written. Wonderfully narrated.

Over the course of this gripping narrative, Dave Cullen approaches his subjects with unrivaled care and insight. What emerges are shattering portraits of the killers, the victims, and the community that suffered one of the greatest - and most socially and historically important - shooting tragedies of the 20th century.

    First, excellent narrator.

Second, just like when I initally watched the events at Combine HS unfold via CNN reports with the rest of the country, I found myself unable to stop listening to this narrative. In his book, Cullen retells the story based on years of research and with a perspective that only time could allow. While the story and end results are no less tragic today than when we first heard about them, I appreciated his analysis and presentation of how some of the initial myths regarding the events, victims, and shooters (and their motivations) made it into the media so quickly. Experts now know so much more about the whos and whys, yet many of those initial myths are still held steadfastly in our collective American psychy as fact. I appreciate knowing more about the truth now.

In 1918, after four harrowing years on the Western Front, Tom Sherbourne returns to Australia to take a job as the lighthouse keeper on remote Janus Rock. To this isolated island, where the supply boat comes only four times a year and shore leaves are granted every other year at best, Tom brings a young, bold, and loving wife, Isabel.

The Light Between Oceans is one of the most beautifully written stories I've read in a long time. I was immediately and completely drawn into Tom Sherbournes's world. It was a joy to read a modern novel of such outstanting literary quality. Characters were complex and well-drawn, including the lighthouse and island which were characters in and of themselves. I was struck by the wonderful metaphors and symbolism within the story and the challenging themes the novel tackled. Be prepared, however, this is not a light read.

The narrator's delightful Australian accent was enchanting and wonderful to listen to.

"Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness… He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily…Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other’s most private wounds…and desires."

A lot of people have rightuflly compared the Crossfire novels to the Shades of Grey trilogy. They are definitely similar and will appeal to the same audience. There were things about each that I liked better or less than the other. The bottom line is, if you liked one series, I think you'll like the other. I'm looking forward to the third book this summer.

Jenna Miscavige Hill, niece of Church of Scientology leader David Miscavige, was raised as a Scientologist but left the controversial religion in 2005. In Beyond Belief, she shares her true story of life inside the upper ranks of the sect, details her experiences as a member Sea Org - the church's highest ministry - speaks of her "disconnection" from family outside of the organization, and tells the story of her ultimate escape.

Stories like this one ususally fascinate me and I was very excited to listen to Beyond Belief. Unfortuately, I just could not make it more than a third of the way through. While details are essential in a memoir like this, I found myself bored by extraneaous information and repetition that, to me, got in the way of the narrative moving forward. I was also distracted by the narraror. Perhaps intentionally cast as someone who captures qualities of a "little girl voice" I found her difficult to listen to. I usually don't give up on a book, but I just can't devote several more hours to this one.

    Story

Of all the audible books I've listened to, Love Unscripted and its sequal (Love Unrehearsed) are the ones I have truly enjoyed the most. A wonderful modern love story, where the characters are real and dynamic. Author Tina Reber has a gift for writing dialog that is witty, fresh, and real, while narrator Madelleine Maby gives a terrific performance. Secondary characters are also interesting and I found myself drawn in to the lives of Ryan and Taryn--I really cared about them. I have listened to both novels twice now (which is not something I usually do) because I enjoyed them so much. If a good love story is your thing, give this a listen!

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

Amazingly well written and excellently narrated. This novel stuck with me for days after I finished it. The story did stall a little for me about a third of the way thorugh, but stick with it because soon thereafter the roller coaster really gets going. Complex characters created huge emotional swings for me. Very impressive. I've recommended it to all of my friends.

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

One of my favorite listens ever! This outstanding novel is an excellent read in its own right, but the audible version brings this story to life in a way that goes way beyond expectation. The characters were alive in my head. Simply amazing! If you haven't given it a listen, I can't recommend it highly enough.
