This is an amazing read that has me on the edge of my seat. I'm about 3/4ths of the way through, and am still waiting to hear about Viagra (mentioned two times). But, the big story is that China's war with the Western World makes Osama bin Ladin look like PeeWee Herman. Be afraid, be very afraid.

I wish that I could give this recording five stars because the topic is controversial and the science presented is rational, thought-provoking and extremely interesting. What irritated me is the sidekick comments delivered by Chris Crowley that were aimed exclusively at men, and were at points offensive. I really could have done without his part of the recording - it just ruined it all for me and I couldn't even click forward or backward to avoid his sections.

Good, critical science - every example of failed societies providess a great lesson in humility and the need for conservation and sustainability.

I love Candace Pert's authoritative style - a highly educated academic who informs without pedantry. Her honesty and willingness to stick her neck out regarding the ideas presented are noteworthy. Very compelling subject.

Michael Pollan's writing never ceases to delight - not only in it's many detailed observations, multi-faceted viewpoints and thoroughness - but in his breathtaking writing style that leaves you wanting more. He has left no stone unturned in this exposition of the food industry in modern capitalist America - which brings up many existential questions for the reader. In the end, however, Pollan generates enthusiasm for how each of us can contribute to a meaningful food revolution.
