This book was just so so for me.
I was disappointed in the story of this second book in the Eve series by Anna Carey. I did enjoy the first book quite a bit but this one felt like it was stuck in one place in the story for much too long. Not enough action. While it wasn't fantastic, I am still intrigued enough to check out the next book in the series.
I am not crazy about Tavia Gilbert as a narrator. She tends to add too much drama to her voice at times. This can get annoying.
Jean M Auel transports you to another world, and yet, it is our world, just 1000's of years ago. There is a great story line as well as scientific based information about how the first humans survived and thrived. I would recommend this book to my friends.
Well read, consistent but often too fast.
While the narration is well done, the speed of the reading is very fast. Also, there is little or no break between paragraphs or story changes which makes it difficult to follow the story sometimes.
Alice Hoffman is one of my favorite authors. She has a wonderful way of bring stories to life with just the right touch of supernatural. I have read almost all of her books and was excited to listen to this older book by her. Her newer titles are read by other narrators, including Nancy Travis who I really enjoy. The narration by Laural Merlington was horrible here. The speed was impossibly fast. I would have listened to it at 1/2 speed but the sound was so distorted that way. There were no pauses at the end of paragraphs or chapters. In the end, I gave up on listening to this book and only listened to a few chapters in. I was very disappointed in this audiobook.
dark, light, creative
I enjoyed Kevin T. Collins' performance a lot.
I loved the detail in the story that made you feel like you were right there in the action.
I am excited to listen to the whole series !
