Excellent blend of Medicine, Science and History. Narrator was perfect for this text. This book details the history of sulfa drug development focusing in detail labratory trials, impact on medicine (especailly on the battlefield)and the many chemists, doctors, politicians and patients involved along the way. There is a nice balance between the technical story and the personalities involved.

Don't waste your time on this one!

James Patterson's writing was mostly fictional; indulgent to the point of fantasy. I was bitterly disappointed.
A fan of Martin Dugard, all his books are well researched and told with the kind of passion one has for their hobby. His work is gripping. That's the main reason I gave this book, "novel", 2 stars; for his research.

As a history buff and fan of antiquity, this book was a mistake. As a schoolboy I read of Howard Carter who remains an intriguing character. I was fortunate to travel to Egypt last year, visiting the boy Kings tomb in the Valley of the Kings. The wonders of this place, his mummified body and the recovered artifacts in the museums leave you breathless.

Although passionate about this subject, even a casual reader of this book might be irritated. 100 chapters that bounce back 'n forth from 1334 BC to 1922 in a dizzying manner to create tension. Annoying! This alone may illustrate the books other shortcomings. The alliteration describing the lust over Nefertiti seemed right out of a popcorn romance novel. Finally, slaves built the tombs and were murdered afterward? Come on! the village where the artisans lived is still there behind the valley.

James Patterson has his place and is a very successful writer. Kudos for taking on this difficult topic and mystery. But I'll steer clear of future "non-fiction" he takes on. Sorry Mr. Patterson, I mean no offense at all, this one just wasn't for me.

This book has many interesting facts and tons of information that I wanted to listen too - however the writing style was not fluid and I found this listen very difficult to follow. The narration was also dull and did not seem to fit the tone of the book.

As expected Jim Dale was excellent and brings this classic stroy to life in the same way he has done in his other reads. If you have only ever seen the movie version of this tale you are missing out.

This book was fantastic for me -- a huge Bealtes music fan but did not know very much about the history of the band. I thought the author did a really good job covering the early life, career steps and personalities of the guys and also brought their climb to fame and love/hate relationship with "Beatle Mania" alive. I especially liked hearing details behind how some of the different songs were written. The narrator transported me to Liverpool!

CS Lewis at his finest and really fantastic narration. Could not stop listening.

I was looking forward to this book and have been reading up on the topic lately. Unfortunately the writing style is extremely poor and the narration is one of the worst audible's I've heard -Allison should not have read her own book. Several parts of the book were interesting when Allison explains her gift and experiences helping people however these gems are few and far between. Allison jumps around a lot and spend much of the book offering random advice on a multitude of everyday topics.
