the first book was good, the second less so. Many say they are disappointed in this book. I almost didn't get this book because I was tired of hearing about the the two love birds. Seriously everything that's going on in the world and all that matters is that you love each other?? sure that may appeal to others but I want to know about the rest as well. In this book you get learn more about the surrounding world and the other characters are given their own voice. This was what I had been waiting for... the opportunity to know the others in the story.

"My name—my True Name—is Ashallayn’darkmyr Tallyn. I am the last remaining son of Mab, Queen of the Unseelie Court. And I am dead to her. My fall began, as many stories do, with a girl…."

    Story

this book contains a much higher quality of writing the the rest of the books. The male narrative lacks much of the whining topics that were present and all but ruined the other books. I like the world created for this series. However, every time I would pick up a book I would quickly regret it. Once finished I would be determined not to finish the series. eventually I would pick up the next book on sale. This story was the first I didn't regret getting.

Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan’s life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school…or at home. When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she’s known is about to change. But she could never have guessed the truth--that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war.

    Story

I think this series has a lot of potential. However there were many points within the story where I became fed up with Megan's rash actions, the inability to listen to offered explanations of the unfamiliar world in which she finds herself. However I guess there would not be a story if not for this character flaw.

Also the romantic aspect of this story was trite, expected, and shallow. Almost twilight-ish: oooh, sexy bad boy, who is technically centuries older than megan, and often poses a threat to her and somehow ... its love.... I will continue reading, because I like the fey world which the writer has created. I hope that other aspects of the story live up to their potential.

Gregory Maguire's Wicked Years series became national best sellers and the basis for a hit Tony-winning Broadway musical. Now, Maguire returns with the final installment in his transformative work, a thrilling and compulsively readable saga in which the fate of Oz is decided at last.

    Story

This is the first book in the out of oz series which I got on audio book. Reading the earlier books, I was not very engaged in the stories. I would find myself stopping and starting the books over and over until I finally finished them. I became very engaged in this book in a way I did not with the others. I think its due to the audio performance. I might just pick up the other books in audio.

Life should have been easier for Sonea, now that Regin ignored her and the rest of the novices treated her with wary respect, but she cannot forget what she witnessed in Akkarin's underground room, or his warning that Kyralia's ancient enemy is watching the Guild closely.

I liked this series and would recommend it. This book had the most action of the 3 however it was my least favorite. Despite the good writing, I the story left me unsatisfied.
