  • Gardens of the Moon: The Malazan Book of the Fallen, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (26 hrs and 8 mins)
    • By Steven Erikson
    • Narrated By Ralph Lister
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

The Malazan Empire simmers with discontent, bled dry by interminable warfare, bitter infighting, and bloody confrontations with ancient and implacable sorcerers. Even the imperial legions, long inured to the bloodshed, yearn for some respite. Yet Empress Laseen’s rule remains absolute, enforced by her dreaded Claw assassins. For Sergeant Whiskeyjack and his squad of Bridgeburners, and for Tattersail, their lone surviving mage, the aftermath of the siege of Pale should have been a time to mourn the many dead. But Darujhistan, last of the Free Cities, yet holds out.

Amazon Customer says: "Probably best to read on paper/kindle"
"Steven Erikson is a King among story tellers"

I have read the Malazan Book of the Fallen series in paperback. I enjoyed them so much that I plan to listen to each of the audio books as they are made available.

Thank you so much for making Erikson part of my audio library.

  • The Book of Life: All Souls, Book 3

    • UNABRIDGED (23 hrs and 52 mins)
    • By Deborah Harkness
    • Narrated By Jennifer Ikeda
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

After traveling through time in Shadow of Night, the second book in Deborah Harkness's enchanting series, historian and witch Diana Bishop and vampire scientist Matthew Clairmont return to the present to face new crises and old enemies. At Matthew's ancestral home at Sept-Tours, they reunite with the cast of characters from A Discovery of Witches - with one significant exception. But the real threat to their future has yet to be revealed, and when it is, the search for Ashmole 782 and its missing pages takes on even more urgency.

dmey says: "Story: Eh....; Narrator: NOT a fan!"
    "Choking out a vampire... Really?"
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Book of Life?

Spoiler alert: Strangling a vampire in a choke hold which actually causes said vampire to turn blue and submit due to not being able to breathe... an undead creature who needs to breathe... The story lost me from that point on.

For countless millennia, the dwarves of the Fifthling Kingdom have defended the stone gateway into Girdlegard. Abandoned as a child, Tungdil the blacksmith labors contentedly in the Kingdom of Fifthling the only dwarf in a kingdom of men. Adnan says: "There and back again, a dwarve's tail"
    "Amazing Narrator"

Bought this book just because Matthew Wolf is the narrator. The man should be doing A LOT MORE audio books.

  • Lord of the Abyss

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs)
    • By Nalini Singh
    • Narrated By Isabelle Gordon
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

As the dark Lord who condemns souls to damnation in the Abyss, Micah is nothing but a feared monster wrapped in impenetrable black armor. He has no idea he is the last heir of Elden, its last hope. Only one woman knows: the daughter of his enemy.

Robbie says: "Wrapping Up a Series"
"No Sci-Fi & Fantasy just really bad Porn"
What would have made Lord of the Abyss better?

    57 ways to repeatedly say,

What could Nalini Singh have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Nalini Singh should read ANY Margaret Weis or Brent Weeks book to see what Sci-Fi or Fantasy story looks like.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Isabelle Gordon?

The Narrator got a low rating due to the poor material she had to work with. The greatest narrator in history would have her/his career destroyed after recording this trash.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

There were no redeeming qualities to this book that suggest any talent for writting in the Sci-Fi or Fantasy genre.

    Any additional comments?

This is my first and last Nalini Singh book.
