Macbeth: A Novel brings the intricacy and grit of the historical thriller to Shakespeare’s tale of political intrigue, treachery, and murder. In this full-length novel written exclusively for audio, authors A. J. Hartley and David Hewson rethink literature’s most infamous married couple, grounding them in a medieval Scotland whose military and political upheavals are as stark and dramatic as the landscape in which they are played.

This is a fantastic rendition of MacBeth. I kept waiting for the book to slow down, so I could stop listening and go to sleep; Finally at 3 a.m. I forced myself to stop the book, so I could go to sleep.
The characters were really fleshed out, which I found fascinating. Alan Cumming as the narrator really brought the story to life.
I can honestly say, I will listen to this book again in the future; It's just that good!

Victoria McQueen has an uncanny knack for finding things: a misplaced bracelet, a missing photograph, answers to unanswerable questions. When she rides her bicycle over the rickety old covered bridge in the woods near her house, she always emerges in the places she needs to be. Vic doesn't tell anyone about her unusual ability, because she knows no one will believe her. She has trouble understanding it herself.

Kate Mulgrew was excellent in her performance of each character in the book.

Ethan Wate used to think of Gatlin, the small Southern town he had always called home, as a place where nothing ever changed. Then he met mysterious newcomer Lena Duchannes, who revealed a secret world that had been hidden in plain sight all along. A Gatlin that harbored ancient secrets beneath its moss-covered oaks and cracked sidewalks.

I really liked the book. In fact I am finding I truly am liking YA books much more than traditional fiction.

This book is about a young man named Ethan, and a young woman named Lena.

Lena is from a family of Casters. Ethan is mortal. Together they struggle to enter each others world, but the universe has other plans for them.

The story and the characters are well developed, and it was a pleasure to listen to the audio version of this book.

Off to listen to the second book in the series........

Freelance writer Troy Chance is snapping photos of the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival ice palace when the ice-cutting machine falls silent. Encased in the ice is the shadowy outline of a body. Troy's assigned to write an in-depth feature on the dead man, who was the privileged son of a wealthy Connecticut family who had been playing at a blue collar life in this Adirondack village. And the deeper Troy digs into his life and mysterious death, the murkier things become.

An earthquake in Masada, Israel, kills hundreds and reveals a tomb buried in the heart of the mountain. A trio of investigators - Sergeant Jordan Stone, a military forensic expert; Father Rhun Korza, a Vatican priest; and Dr. Erin Granger, a brilliant but disillusioned archaeologist - are sent to explore the macabre discovery, a subterranean temple holding the crucified body of a mummified girl. But a brutal attack at the site sets the three on the run, thrusting them into a race to recover what was once preserved in the tomb's sarcophagus: a book rumored to have been written by Christ's own hand....

I really like the book. It was a very nice change from reading the Sigma books.
I really enjoyed the archaeological parts of the book, as well the puzzle solving. Think Sigma, only replace the team with vampires. These vampires are not like the ones in Twilight, or Vampire Diaries.

I personally thought the narrator did an excellent job. His accents were spot on. The audio editor might have done a better job by increasing the volume, as sometimes the narrators voice became very soft while reading the story.

I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.......

Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer. Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries....

It is freezing in the churchyard, even before the dead arrive. Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them - not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her. His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble. But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can't entirely explain.

I wasn't quite sure if this was a young adult book or not. I tend to think it is. However, even adults can enjoy this one.
If you like paranormal, ley lines and mystery, you should like this book.
Each major character is fully fleshed out, which gave me a reason to keep listening and rooting for them through out the book.
Will Patton does an excellent job of narrating and bringing the characters to life.

    Have fun listening......

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

The writing was excellent, as was the narrator. I have listened to this book 3 times, I just can't get enough of it.
I loved all the main players, every one was unique, and brought something special to the story.

Long ago, homo nocturnus ruled the Earth, able to manipulate the forces of nature at their most basic level. Before the dawn of recorded history they were overthrown, leaving behind them only legends---our legends of shapeshifters and blood-drinkers, of cruel gods and evil magicians, of ogres and goblins, succubi and incubi.

For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the "Sliver of Infinity," reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heart-broken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler's most hellish prison.

I read "The Way of Kings" by Brandon Sanderson, and wanted to read something else of his. I started reading the reviews for Mistborn, and thought I'd give it a try.

I was not disappointed. Very refreshing with the way they use metals for extraordinary powers.
The story itself was very compelling, so I will be listening to the second book in the Mistborn trilogies.

Yeah. It's about zombies, and breathers. But it's more than that. It just a downright good story.
